Morrison is a 5-11, 170, Freshman cornerback from Gonzaga College HS, Ashburn, VA. A PrepStar All-Atlantic selection, Morrison is the son of Darryl Morrison who played at Arizona as part of the early Desert Swarm in 1991 and 1992. Here is the signing day assessment from Arizona Desert Swarm:
Here is what his high school coach and his Arizona position coach have to say about Morrison. When you watch Morrison, he is the total package at 5-11 165lbs. He can do it all. From playing man to zone coverage on the outside, slot or safety position. His skills as a kick returner also make him valuable, with 4.5 40 speed.
Given some time, Morrison can certainly develop into a rotation guy and beyond early in his career at Arizona. Depending on team needs, Morrison could easily find himself all across the secondary. With the 3-3-5 defense led by pure savages in box, Morrison and company could do a lot of damage.
“Sammy is the complete package. He possesses the winning combination of talent, intellect, charisma, work ethic and positive attitude. Arizona will be a great platform for Sammy to shine as he positively impacts others around him.” – Gonzaga College HS Coach Randy Trivers
“Sammy is a good football player that has played both corner and safety in high school. He played more so safety because that’s where they needed him so he’ll be a guy that can provide skills and versatility playing at the corner position while also having a chance to play at the free safety spot.” – UA Coach David Lockwood
43 is also the Arizona record for the most 1st downs in a game set against South Carolina State in 2012. Which begs the question, will Coach Rod's teams own all Arizona offensive records before too long?
