40 Jarrett Mitchell
Mitchell is a 5-8, 182, redshirt Freshman from Kubasaki HS, Okinawa, Japan. Mitchell went to a Department of Defense school (DODS) in Japan and has made it his personal mission to make a D1 team. He gained national attention after several stories by the Texas SB Nation site covering his journey to get noticed by D1 football teams. He chose Arizona and got covered in the Star last fall, but did not make the team. Undeterred, Mitchell was back practicing this spring and after scoring 2 TDs in the spring game Mitchell locked up a position on the official roster.
Now that he is on the team, Mitchell will have to keep competing for a chance at playing time. He couldn't ask for a better opportunity than with Arizona. Coach Rod likes short fast backs and plays no favorites between scholarship players and walk-ons. With Jason Sweet out with a knee injury Mitchell now becomes my favorite walk-on, so I hope he gets to be the 4th DODS athlete from the Pacific to play D1 football.
40 is the number of sacks Arizona gave up last year for a loss of 239 yards. The worst performance was at the Fiesta bowl where Boise St sacked Anu 8 times. That is twice as many sacks as Arizona allowed to any other team.

“Even though this is a devastating feeling, someday someone will say that’s the greatest college football game ever played. I guess it’s better than both teams walking off the field talking to themselves (after a tie).”
— Dick Tomey, Arizona coach

Not really. Their FPI gave AZ 1% chance. Predictive accuracy there...snarkASUHATER! wrote:I'm sure we had a similar percentage last year from espn.
