Thought we might be ranked a little higher but I'm not surprised. Media seems to be underrating us again. First time we've been ranked preseason since we were #4 in 1999. Only the 10th time we've been ranked preseason (1974, 1975, 1983, 1989, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2015)

Hate the Amway USAToday coaches poll. IRRELEVANT, imo. Coaches/staff self-serving and often is reflected on how they vote/rank. It's called Amway for a reason $$$$$$$.

Ranked is Ranked but the coaches poll needs to stop. It doesnt do anything, its not used to declare a national champion, its useless time some grad assistant spent over the weekend.

Anu Solomon gained national attention after passing for 3,793 yards (and 28 TDs) as a redshirt freshman in 2014. But his coaches are focused on a different number: 85%, the rate of successful decisions, from deciphering coverages to the timing of handoffs, they expect their QB to make. “For me to tell you he was hitting 85—no, not last year,” co-offensive coordinator Rod Smith says. “We understood it because of the s---storm he was in as a freshman [starter].”

The 6'2", 205-pound Solomon watched more film in the offseason; in the spring he had only one or two practices at less than 85%, according to Smith. Solomon’s crisp reads can spring sophomore tailback Nick Wilson (1,375 yards in ’14) and junior receiver Cayleb Jones (73 catches for 1,019 yards), and his confident direction can smooth the assimilation of three new starters on the O-line.
Better reads with all the skill positions back. If we can find a center and solidify the line this could be something special.
