20 Jarek Hilgers

Hilgers is a 6-0, 209, redshirt Sophomore safety transfer from ASSu and Desert Vista HS, Phoenix. After spending 2 years at the school up north as a running back, Hilgers has transferred to Arizona as a safety. I truly don't know where to start with this. Have we ever had a football player transfer in from ASSu? Is he coming here to pursue a specific major, because he thinks he can play D1 ball and knows this staff will give him a chance, or is he just looking for a girl he won't be ashamed to take home to mom? Also, he was a walk-on at ASSu, but never played in his 2 years there. Does he have to sit out a year or is he eligible to play right away? I'd rather have my wife crawl into bed with her shoes on than have to think about all of these questions.
Here is what I do know. Hilgers was an all-state performer in 2012 and holds his high school's records for rushing yards in a game (285) and TDs in a season (18). In his high school career Hilger rushed for 1,692 yards and averaged 8.5 yards per carry. Looks like a good athlete and solid kid, I'm still blown away by the in state transfer. Here's his Desert Vista highlights:
20.8 was Anu's rushing average per game last year. I bet we see that number jump this year.
