Griffey is a 6-3, 195, redshirt Junior receiver from Orlando, FL. He has been a key part of the wide receiver rotation during the past 2 years. Griffey has played in 22 games with 6 starts while at Arizona and has 45 receptions for 575 yards (12.8 ypc) and 4 TDs. A total team guy, Griffey has also played quite a bit on special teams and has been one of the best blocking receivers.

This year I'm looking for more consistency and a big year from Griffey. He should be a mismatch for defenses and his size and hands will make him open on most plays. Griffey could be one of the big winners of teams trying to stop the three amigos of Jones, Grant, and Phillips. He can play every wide receiver position, but will probably spend most of his time on the outside. Griffey will miss several weeks due to a foot injury.

Yes, his dad and grandfather are a little famous, but the other Griffey you should know is his sister Taryn Griffey who is a guard on the Wildcat basketball team.

Antoine Cason was the most important recruit of the Mike Stoops era. He started 4 years at cornerback and won the Jim Thorpe Award as the best defensive back in CFB as a senior. Here is why Gimino ranks him the #12 player in school history:
Position, years at UA: Cornerback, 2004-07

Honors, accomplishments at UA: Won the Jim Thorpe Award, given to the nation’s top defensive back, in 2007. … Consensus All-American as a senior. … Second-team All-American by SI.com as a junior. … Two-time first-team All-Pac-10, in 2006 and 2007. …. Was second-team all-conference as a sophomore.

Antoine Cason was the top player of the Mike Stoops era (2004-2011), a game-changer as a defender and a punt returner.

His big-play highlights in big games include a 39-yard fourth-quarter interception return for a touchdown that fueled a 24-20 victory over eighth-ranked California in 2006 and his two-touchdown game vs. No. 2 Oregon in 2007.

In the latter game, Cason returned an interception 42 yards and a punt 56 yards, both in the second quarter, helping the Wildcats take a 20-point lead. UA went on to post a 34-24 upset Nov. 15, dashing the Ducks’ national-championship hopes. Cason also had seven solo tackles, broke up five passes and caused a fumble that UA recovered at the end of a 40-yard run on a fake punt.

That game, which was played on a Thursday night on ESPN, propelled Cason to the Thorpe Award.

“What a great person, a great leader, great character,” then-defensive coordinator Mark Stoops said at the time. “When the bright lights are on in a big game, he steps up. That is what All-Americans do.”

Cason, who also was an All-American on UA’s 4×100 relay team, is fourth in school history with 15 interceptions and fourth in pass break-ups with 32.

5 is the Arizona record for most rushing TDs in a game held by Tucson good Ka'Deem Carey set against Colorado in 2012.

Jamardre Cobb was originally #5, but switched to #25 when he moved from defense to offense.

We're due for another one of those program-ending beatdowns against ASu.

I really hope Griffey's foot injury does not linger.

Is Cobb going to change numbers?

Still both have #5 on the official UA roster. Guess they can put it off for a couple weeks while Griffey is out.

If Cobb never sees the field the first 2 games then not an issue.

I imagine getting drafted in the 24th round in MLB is like getting drafted in the 11th round when the NBA went that long. Very little chance.

I dont understand how he even got drafted. Who put his name up? Did he hire an agent? Any workouts?

You don't have to for baseball. Baseball teams just draft whoever they want to and hope they want to play.

Mariner's GM sent Trey a signed contract post-dated for 2012 when he was born

While Trey's selection may be a legacy thing, MLB teams sometimes blow their lower draft picks on athletes from other sports in case things don't work out in that sport.

Also, he'll likely be looking for work next year. Maybe he'll take 70 or 80k to ride the bus. And maybe he turns into an asset.

Saw a few days ago Nate Robinson is going to try and play NFL football.

Fendi Onobun had a better pro football career than basketball, a game he never played in his life.
