Cayleb Jones is a 6-3, 215, redshirt Junior receiver from Austin, TX. He redshirted in 2013 after transferring from the Texas Longhorns and then burst on the scene last year as Arizona's top receiver. Cayleb started 13 of 14 games and did not miss a game despited having a broken hand for a significant part of the season. He caught 73 passes for 1,019 yards (14 ypc) and 9 TDs. Everything except the yards per catch was tops for Arizona receivers and earned Cayleb All-Pac 12 honorable mention.
This year Cayleb is significantly bigger and stronger (playing weights on the official roster are still old) and ready to try and be the top receiver in the conference. Why's he going to be better? He not only has another year in the system, but Cayleb spent the off season working hard with Solomon to improve their on field communication. Did I mention he played last year with a broken hand? Well, he did and having 2 good hands has to help a receiver. Also, the talent at the other receivers and Arizona's strong running game is going to make it difficult for team's to provide corners extra help handling Cayleb. Finally, (and this is BDW premium info) Solomon is significantly better. Balls thrown on time and to the correct spot are much easier to catch. Cayleb knows all the receiver positions, but he will primarily line up on the outside.
Are there things Cayleb needs to work on? You bet. Everyone who has compulsively re-watched last season's games over the summer knows Cayleb was also our most penalized receiver. More focus and discipline should keep Cayleb from jumping early or committing unnecessary penalties and help him lead the team in just receptions.
A couple things Cayleb may not do this year is start as well as he did against UTSA last year
or return an onside kick for a touchdown.
Tellas Jones is a 6-0, 189, redshirt Junior safety from Miami, FL. He missed only 1 game over the last 2 years, but Thursday will be his first start. Tellas has 32 tackles for his career and last year he got his 1 sack and also a blocked kick. Tellas has been a key contributor on special teams and last year several of his tackles were credited to Cayleb by the TV commentators because of their common names and numbers.
This year Tellas is listed as the starting bandit. This is the spot Jared Tevis held down for 2 years and that allowed him to be one of the top tacklers on the team. Hard to project Tellas will have the same productivity as Tevis, but the coaches trust him to fill that role.
1 is the number of Pac-12 South Division titles Arizona has won. Tomorrow we start defending that title.
Hopefully, the countdown helped make everyone's summer go by a little faster and also made you more informed on the young men who make up this year's Arizona Wildcat football team. I couldn't be more excited to see the countdown end because it means tomorrow we get actual fast paced, hard edged, touchdown scoring, turnover forcing, record breaking, Wildcat football! Bear Down!

This countdown was one of the highlights of my summer. I know how much work you must have put into this, and I can't thank you enough Ang.
One more day to revolution
We will nip it in the bud
We'll be ready for these schoolboys
They will wet themselves with blood
Watch 'em run amok
Catch 'em as they fall
Never know your luck
When there's a free-for-all!
Tomorrow we'll be far away,
Tomorrow is the judgment day
Tomorrow we'll discover
What our God in Heaven has in store!
One more dawn
One more day
One day more!

I'm glad you guys enjoyed the countdown and I appreciate all the kind words.
IMNSHO Javier Morales and AllSportsTucson.com had the best 50 day countdown looking at the top 50 football games and top 50 players. Here's Morales' new #1 football game in Arizona history!
Another option is to never explain to the TV guys that the Jones on defense wearing 1 is not Cayleb. It would make Cayleb the most productive 2 way player in America.

Thanks for your dedication to the countdown ANG, as Chicat mentioned, it made the summer wait for Wildcats football more bearable.
If you went to an Arizona State game in the 20s, 30s, or 40s, you probably remember shouting, *Go Bulldogs!* You would, of course, have known about Pete the Bulldog. And you may have been a bit resentful when, in 1946, the school changed to the Sun Devils.
But memories are short. Very few people nowadays have ever heard of the Bulldogs, even people who bleed Maroon and Gold. But it really was a step in the right direction, and if you know the history of Arizona State University, you know why.
The original name of the school, which was founded in 1885, was the Tempe Normal School. A Normal School was the old-fashioned name for a teacher's college, that taught teaching *norms*. So the teams were called the Normals, and sometimes the Teachers. And I suppose people shouted, *Go Normals!* or *Go Teachers!*, but really, a team needs something with a little more spirit, wouldn't you say?
The Tempe Normal School started calling itself the Bulldogs in 1922, even though the name of the school didn't change until 1925. But they needed something, as the name of the school changed to the Arizona State Teacher's College. I guess they could have gone on calling themselves the Teachers, but, well, would you?
The name changed in 1946 to the Sun Devils, which was suggested by the Sun Angels, and was overwhelming approved by the student body. And as great as it must have been to shout, *Go Bulldogs!*, personally, I prefer, *Go Devils!* Sorry, Pete.

So, who were the Sun Angels that suggested the name? A brief search gave me more information on porn sites than ASSu history.

Projected 5th rounder. I don't get it. It's not like he was considered a top receiver in the Pac 12. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if he goes later than the 5th round and never makes it out of training camp. Arizona, for the type of program we have, loses more players early to the draft than we should.
Fournette is expected to come back to LSU this season. Why would a guy like him stay?

Because he will be a true junior who hasn't been out of high school for 3 years.

That pesky minimum of 3 years rule!!

Denson is switching to offense next year and will probably replace Cayleb. I like this move.

With his size, speed, ability to create room for himself, and assertiveness over physically inferior DBs I thought Cayleb would be some NFL team's late round option. Now is relying on undrafted free agency and hopefully gets picked up somewhere.
