Someone refresh my memory. Who were the publicly talked about candidates to replace Stoops?
Wasn't Leach one?

You mean who was being talked about in the press? (since Byrne went Ninja)Chicat wrote:Someone refresh my memory. Who were the public candidates to replace Stoops?

Yeah, or on the boards.UAEebs86 wrote:You mean who was being talked about in the press? (since Byrne went Ninja)Chicat wrote:Someone refresh my memory. Who were the public candidates to replace Stoops?

Yes Leach was one. Also Dykes (uacats wet dream).
I believe he just signed a 7 year extension or working on it. Or do you mean if hired him over RR 4 years ago?Chicat wrote:Fedora, hmmmmm...

What does discussing our coaching search four years ago have to do RichRod staying?cordera89 wrote:Well you guys can end this thread now. RR is staying.
What did those 4 years of the coaching search led Arizona too? I'm not saying let dig up in the past of who would of became Arizona coaches if it wasn't RR replacing Stoop.Chicat wrote:What does discussing our coaching search four years ago have to do RichRod staying?cordera89 wrote:Well you guys can end this thread now. I was genuinely curious as to who we wanted or were rumored to be in the running for and I can't go back to the rivals boards to find out because they no longer exist. So I posed a question to the board. That's what people do within a community of people with similar interests.cordera89 wrote:What did those 4 years of the coaching search led Arizona too? I think it still their on the rival broad thou. But as I remember Byrnes didn't really go after that many candidates. Remember he try to get Urban Meyer to come to Arizona but he turn him down but also gave him advice on taken RR instead.Chicat wrote:I was genuinely curious as to who we wanted or was rumored to be in the running and I can't go back to the rivals boards to find out because they no longer exist. This is the guy I wanted.carcassdragger wrote:Peterson.
But if I remember correctly no one was excited about another up and coming defensive coordinator.ChooChooCat wrote:I remember Justin Wilcox was a very hot name at the time and naturally he got shit canned at USC today.
The day Stoops got fired and I think two days later playing UCLA.azpenguin wrote:The ol' "Chris Petersen or we riot" was funny. I remember that it slipped out very early on that RR had been contacted (it may have been days before Stoops was fired actually), and then "wait, false alarm, never happened." Apparently he had been at least mentioned now looking in hindsight. Fedora and Hudspeth were big ones that were mentioned often. There were only a few mentions of Dykes, since he was still pretty green as a head coach and hadn't proven anything yet, and he also seemed to be looking to get a bigger job the second he stepped foot into Tucson as OC.
