Today is an open roster spot so, I will look at one of the new coaches.

Addae was the first member of the new defensive staff hired when he was promoted to the assistant coach for safeties after the season ended last year. This will be his third year on the Arizona staff after he spent his first 2 years as a football analyst with a focus on defensive film breakdown and a program manager.

Originally from Tampa, FL, Addae was a 4 year starter (2002-2005) and 2 year captain at West Virginia where he was All-Big East selection for 3 years and a finalist for the Ronnie Lott Trophy as a Senior. He attended the NFL combine and played 1 year in the NFL as a free agent with Tampa Bay and Indianapolis.

He got his start in coaching as a graduate assistant at West Virginia and then Michigan before being hired by Cincinnati as a Director of Player Development. In 2010 and 2011, Addae was the running backs coach at Cincinnati and one of the conferences' top recruiters before rejoining Coach Rod at Arizona.

Addae has waited a long time for his first chance to coach DBs. He is the least experienced coach on the staff, but he has already proven to be a good recruiter and has earned his shot at on the field coaching at Arizona.

70 is the number of plays by Brandon Dawkins last year gaining 513 yards. His 7.3 yards per play led the team.

Good Michael Lev article on Addae's heart scare at Colts' training camp.
One of Arizona’s assistant coaches, Jahmile Addae, faced his own mortality at a similar age. Addae collapsed during training camp with the Indianapolis Colts in August 2006.

Media reports at the time said Addae had become “lightheaded.” It turned out to be far more serious than that.

“I had something similar to a heart attack,” Addae, who coaches the Wildcats’ safeties, said after practice Monday. “That’s when I found out I had a heart issue called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.”
