8 Trevor Wood
Wood is a 6'6", 265, redshirt Sophomore tight end from Scottsdale, AZ. He played in every game as a true Freshman and although he was recruited as a tight end they used him that year as a reserve defensive lineman because of team needs. He had 4 tackles on the year, but was moved back to tight end at the end of the season. Wood was expected to start at tight end last year, but injured his shoulder during the spring game and missed the entire season.
Wood is back from injury, back at tight end, and back to being healthy. Really healthy! He set an Arizona record for lifting for a tight end held by some guy who went on to be the best tight end in the NFL and was also known as a beast in the weight room. Now Wood gets a chance to translate his hard work onto the field. He should be the #1 tight end when the depth chart is released next week, but the big question is will he get a chance to catch some balls. Kern caught 8 balls last year to lead tight ends and I would like to see Wood's production be at least twice that to prove Arizona is serious about throwing to the tight ends.
