so far that we know of that makes 8 of our 12 games ~730-815 PM starts.

After further reflection I'm fine with night games.

I will be foregoing this game to attend a Halloween Party. I don't love Halloween Parties but I hate driving 2 hrs to watch us get our ass handed to us and then driving back home at 1 in the morning. 3 aisle tickets in sect 22 row 54 with seat backs for sale(parking included). $55 each?

Even if it is a good game (doubtful) the stands will be empty at halftime. Kids off to the parties, mom and dad heading home to bed.
If Furd can beat ND without McCaffrey, what chance does the UA have?
Re: Stanford @Arizona discussion thread
Notre Dame isn't good and the Cats aren't as bad as Saturday showed.
Also the stands were embarrassing during a day game. TV execs choose the kickoff times and for good reason for them and for the schools in the form of payouts. Win and you are in prime time. Simple as that. No one is getting screwed here.

Come on, lets be real. Some truths
1) the USC game was a near sellout. Who cares how many showed up or woe left when. Who could blame them
2) We are as bad as we looked Saturday. The combination of little talent and injuries have made us a very real 0-9 possibility
3) ND would beat us by 2 TD's as will Stanford probably
4) There will be maybe 48K for this game if we are lucky as this off week will help the players but by next Saturday AZ football will be a forgone memory.
5) Can't blame the TV guys this year on when we play, we suck and one woudl hope it is on so late that no one will see the game or the score, especially recruits.
Burn it down GB. RR needs to be the CEO of Rita's nacho chip dip empire not the head coach at AZ

The company I work for has a tailgate for homecoming but I might be skipping that too. For what I witnessed Saturday, it may be a while before I go to another game.

8 pm on the night of a lot of Halloween events...yeahhh the student section will be half empty at kickoff and the whole stadium will be 80% empty by the 3rd quarter if we're getting demolished again.

Without a running game I think Anu gives us the best chance of winning. Let him throw it 50 times a game. Move the chains. Throw to run

I can agree with that. Stanford just needs to put a spy on Dawkins and his advantage is negated. Especially when he has gone through the concussion protocol and may be less willing to take off as Solomon is now. Just put the best blocker back there to give Solomon some time.

Lets fool with Stanford's minds.
Start Anu at QB, Dawkins at WR and Tate at RB, and Morin at TE

I'm pretty sure Tate doesn't want to do it, but I'd line him up at RB and have Anu or Dawkins at qb. Design some RB throws. As in, hand off to Tate, he takes a step or two backwards and lets it fly.

Re: Stanford @Arizona discussion thread
As fragile as Solomon and possibly Dawkins is there is no way Tate should see the field outside of QB.
Not sure a 17/18 year old QB could even try an block a 240 pound linebacker blitzing.

Re: Stanford @Arizona discussion thread
I've bandied that idea around with my friends now for a week or two about maybe putting Tate at running back temporarily. Everyone hangs their head and shakes it and goes....oh no, he's a quarterback and now you might get him hurt. Guess what in case anyone hasn't noticed, you can get hurt playing quarterback too. He obviously has great vision and sees the field well so I say over the next week or so give him as many handoffs in practice as you can and if you really wanna mess with Stanford, run some two back sets with Dawkins or Green or Tyler and keep them completely off balance. These are trying times and trying times call for extreme measures. I'm all for it.

That's silly, I watched Tate on one of his runs take on a linebacker. He put his shoulder into him and put him in the dirt.

Saw Solomon do the same thing as a freshman. Look at him now.
Re: Stanford @Arizona discussion thread
Our best chance to beat the Trees (and we don't have much of a chance with our smallish DL) is to get Solomon healthy and throw the ball.
I know the majority of the board is sour on Anu and enamored with Dawkins but our best chance at generating offense for the remainder of the year will be by throwing the ball........and Solomon is our best passer.

Re: Stanford @Arizona discussion thread
Very true, although he is no Nick Foles. Still tends to overthrow receivers, and was unable to go through all his check offs when he did play.dmjcat wrote:and Solomon is our best passer.
Since he is not 100% with his knee, not sure how he could plant successfully to get off good throws.
To tell you the truth, I am not really enamored with any of the QBs. Although Tate was destroyed by USC, he was only 17 then and hopefully this didn't do anything to hurt his confidence which does happen to true frosh QBs playing real Div 1 teams.
The Stanford DL goes 261-295, so not overly huge like USC. Since the Cats really don't have a chance against Furd, I'd probably go with Tate to give him more experience until Solomon is 100% healed.
Just beat ASU. That's all I care about. Save Wilson too for ASU since he can't make it through any game without getting hurt again.

Re: Stanford @Arizona discussion thread
Cats give up 50 pounds per man on the DL to Furd's OL, besides a whole level of recruiting.
Christian McCaffrey will be back at full strength and will go for 150 yards.
Cats may keep it close for a half, as usual, until the smaller D wears down.

Re: Stanford @Arizona discussion thread
Tate is Jerrard Randall 2.0 IMO. I think the LA schools pegged him accurately as a WR/DB, which is where he should end up.Merkin wrote:Very true, although he is no Nick Foles. If Anu is capable of playing he should, as he gives us our best chance of a win.

I hope your not boosting your confidence because Colorado beat Stanford 10-5 in a ugly fashion.PHXCATS wrote:Um have you seen Stanford play? Cats have a chance
Stanford is going to be one piss off team and I don't see our defense doing the exact of what Colorado did.

Re: Stanford @Arizona discussion thread
He's got a better arm than Anu, doesn't mean he's a better passer. Anu is great at checkdowns and going through reads. Dawkins panics and runs away at any sight of pressure. Anu consistently has 300 yard games, with 40-50 attempts, Dawkins has never had a 300 yard game and sometime gets up to like 28 attempts. It's clear who he trusts more in the passing game and Anu gives the best chance to win.CalStateTempe wrote:I think Dawkin's arm is no worse than Anu's
Re: Stanford @Arizona discussion thread
I have heard that it us doubtful Anu starts much less plays against Furd.
Supposedly it will be Dawkins then Tate with Morin playing RB

Small chance I can get free tickets for Saturday... I'm depressed knowing I don't know if I'll accept them or not. A game that finishes at 1130 is way past my bedtime.
