Arizona Stadium

There's no thread for Arizona Stadium, so I thought I'd start one with info regarding the NW corner scoreboard. GB is looking for feedback today on what the back should look like. I would be curious to see what #1 looked like with "Wildcats" underneath Arizona. I love the block A but there's a block A in the structure right next to it (I wonder if that's the reason #3 exists, to match it. Otherwise I think that one is rather ugly).

#2's in the south end zone facing 6th St. already, so #1.

#2 for the choices given, BUT I would actually prefer the Wildcat Logo and have it lit up like the A on the South Scoreboard.

That's the one. That would be my vote. Anyway to get this to GB and put in a request?

Don't think the AD has any plans on using the Wildcat logo again in any updated feature any time soon. That Arizona logo and the Block A are the logos the AD use now.

Might be the case as you said, but I still like the look. The "A" is definitely our symbol and I love it, but I wish they would also re-incorporate the Wildcat back into fold somehow. Maybe we can get them to start up the tradition of helmet stickers again using this logo?

This document is a little old as it references Livengood as AD. Nonetheless, I like the "ArizonaWildcats" in the school font on the bottom right. Note that it says the "cat face" will continue to be used as a "tertiary" mark. Which when used as an adjective in this context appears to mean third place. I don't see why you couldn't work in both the Block A and the ArizonaWildcats together - that's the whole shebang right there. Cost, I suppose.

Also, I've never seen the John Button Salmon/BearDown over the Block A before. That's kind of cool.

My seats are directly in front of this board. I can only pray it doesn't have speakers associated with it.

Since Byrne is clearly trying to enclose the North End Zone as high as possible, I wonder what he's going to fill the northeast corner with.

As far as I know, it's not a NZ haka, but Hawaiian. Bruddah.

Looks like AZ admin caved. No more Haka:
"The Arizona football program has a strong lineage of Polynesian student-athletes, and in 2009, a group of players wished to share this aspect of their culture with their teammates and community.

"He said in sharing the haka with the members of the football programme, the players' intent was to show the pride they have in their Polynesian heritage.

"Even though that intent remains the same today, we've been made aware that a segment of the population is unhappy that the haka is being performed. As a result, we have decided to discontinue the activity."

The spokesman said moving forward the university were now planning to identify other alternatives that would provide an outlet for their Polynesian student athletes to showcase the heritage they are so proud of.

Here's hoping that doesn't involve throwing a virgin into a volcano...

We'd probably do it improperly and get more hate mail.
