19 Shawn Poindexter
Poindexter was originally listed at 80, but switched his number to 19 this year.
Poindexter is a 6-5, 210, Senior receiver from Peoria, AZ. Last year, his first with Arizona after attending Glendale CC, Poindexter played in 10 games catching 6 passes for 82 yards. He will be fighting for more playing time this year and should be an intriguing large target on the outside if we can find someone to throw him the ball.
80 is the number of sacks USC allowed last year to lead the league by a large margin (Cal was #2 allowing 130). Arizona was 8th in the league allowing 192 and Assu was last, by a large margin, giving by 260.

Re: 80 Shawn Poindexter
I really thought that he was going to be a bright spot last season but he wasn't. It's hard to be a receiver on a team with no passer. I'm hoping that he gets some quick outs drawn up this season so that they play to Poindexter's strengths.

He was catching passes in every game until he hurt his knee. Its difficult to be a bright spot when you're recovering from knee surgery. This goes back one of the major goals this team has to accomplish this season to be successful. In my opinion that's STAY HEALTHY.

He caught 6 passes for 82 yards in 10 games. Very pedestrian.
Re: 80 Shawn Poindexter
I'm sorry Chief. I need to slow down and review things before I post. I usually do and didn't this time. It wasn't his knee, it was his foot. He hurt it in the Washington game and missed the UCLA, Utah, and USC games. He came Back and tried to play and was ineffective and missed The Colorado and ASU game. He was injured most of the year. He may have suited out for some of those games but didn't play.chiefzona wrote:tgrumpy2 wrote:chiefzona wrote:I really thought that he was going to be a bright spot last season but he wasn't. Ah yes my friend. More of a glaring problem than turf toe is the lack of a throwing running back errrr I mean quarterback.

Except we were discussing Poindexter stepping up and being more of a factor. The passing is another discussion and as I've said several times, I'll hold my decision on that until we're into the season. Don't worry, I have my pitchfork and tiki torch in the closet and I'm ready to join the frenzied mob if things go awry. Until then, I'm excited and positive about the season and I hope Poindexter and everyone else stays healthy.
Re: 19 Shawn Poindexter
Bump for day 19 now that Poindexter has a new number.
19 fumbles were lost by our opponents last year. We recovered 6. Forcing more turnovers has ben a point of emphasis for the defense this camp. (That is only if you listen to camp reports. There is another school of thought where you disregard new reports and believe nothing can ever improve because you have been disappointed in the past.)

Say what? Am I reading this correctly. USC allow 80 sacks and ASU 260?
No way we are talking about sacks, maybe penalties, but not sacks!

Re: 19 Shawn Poindexter
You are right. I must have been half asleep when I posted and confused sack yardage and sack numbers.
USC gave up 12 sacks for 80 yards.
Cal gave up 16 sacks for 130 yards.
Arizona gave up 28 sacks for 192 yards.
AssU gave up 41 sacks for 260 yards.
That should make more sense. All from the PAC12 site.

Re: 19 Shawn Poindexter
Was going to ask the same question as Mountain Cat. Must be penalties.
As for SP, I have heard they are going to try and get him another season due to his Injuries, or maybe that is Benjamin.

Hard to find the joke in here because the lowlifes in the photo still piss me off so much, but tgrumpy if someone borrowed your tiki torch for the weekend tell them they can keep it and then kick the crap out of them for me.

I'm to old to kick the crap out of anyone but that's why I try to always be armed. Do you want a kill shot or just wounded and maimed?
