7 Devaughn Cooper

Cooper is a 5-10, 175, redshirt Freshman wide receiver from Narbonne HS, Harbor City, CA. Several programs tried to lure the speedy receiver away from the Wildcats after his initial commitment and Khalil Tate can be given some of the credit for helping us hold on to Cooper. They are close friends, played in the same division in high school and see themselves as a huge offensive duo for the Wildcats.
Last year Cooper impressed the coaches and earned a spot in the receiver rotation playing in 2 games and catching 1 pass for 15 yards against Hawaii. Cooper missed the rest of the year due to injury and was given a medical redshirt. Cooper also missed the start of camp this year after he left the team and then decided to come back a week after camp started. Before his abrupt and unexplained departure and return Cooper was expected to be battling for a starting slot position and expected to be one of the playmakers among the receivers.
7 is the number of catches Trevor Wood had last year. If he doesn't pass that in the first 3 games I will be disappointed.
