The scheduling of this game puzzles me. I get a home and home deal but it looks like UTEP doesn't come here until 2023.

Anyways, we are 29-11-1 all time against them with a 12-5 record at their place.
Last meeting was in 2003 at Arizona Stadium with a 42-7 win.

Arizona will get its 2nd win! I'm not sure UTEP can beat NAU.

UTEP preseason was considered one of the 3-4 worst FBS teams. Barely a step above NAU, if at all. We should theoretically still win this one.

Home game for Tristan Cooper. Wilson will be back and Dawkins still can't throw. Now back to the studio

A bit off topic - does anyone here remember the time that UTEP came into Tempe as a +/- 30 point underdog and beat the Normal School? IIRC Frank Kush went into the dressing room and told his players not to change. He then waited for the stadium to empty, took the team back onto the field, and held a full game full contact scrimmage. They didn't lose again that year.

Tells you all you need to know about UTEP this year if we're a 20 point road favorite.

The talk about firing RR before the end of the year is legit if we lose this one. We should win and convincingly.

Yeah last thing this team needs is to feel like any game is an automatic win. We could totally lose.

Arizona by 45+. Arizona should have no trouble moving the ball and will probably roll up another 500+ yard performance on the ground. I may actually be going to this game. 4-1/2 hour drive and I can stop in Hatch for some green chile on the way back.

Too bad they didn't tie this in with the Hatch Chili Festival which I think was last weekend.

This game is coming at the perfect time. Dawkins and K Tate are both limited passers. I think we get a look at D Tate who has the best potential on this team. I say Dawkins starts, K Tate gets snaps in the 2nd and 3rd quarters and D Tate plays in the 3rd and 4th quarters
Going forward I think the best success will come from D Tate throwing the ball and Dawkins coming in for special packages and on 3rds and short.
300 + yards on the ground
250 + in the air
Bet the house payment on UA Total of 39.5

That's Labor Day weekend. Hot, crowded as hell... I'd rather pick up on a quieter day, get some good food in town, and enjoy the smell of the roasting green chiles all over town.

No fans in the stands doesn't either. Have to make up for that lost revenue some how.

I expect you to start buying 20 tickets a week minimum to start making up for the bad fans. Gotta do your part!

On ESPN's FPI UTEP is 128 out of 130. Not a perfect indicator of team performance but that says a lot. If UA gives up more than 10 points in non garbage time that will be upsetting. Besides the safety 10 points vs Houston (44 per ESPN's FPI) were results of short fields. UA only gave up one good drive the entire game. Thinking too much is being made from the Houston game and not enough credit to Ed Oliver, the #1 pick in 2019. Cats 48 UTEP 9

UTEP lost to Rice 31-14 at home. Rice lost 62-7 to Stanford. Arizona is not losing this game and it won't be a close one. Rice is 119 out of 130 on ESPN's FPI.
Cats big big big.

Unload at Airport 20 Minutes
Security and preboard 1 hour
Flight 1 hour
Baggage and load Bus 40 Minutes
Airport to UTEP Stadium 20 Minutes
Time 3 hours 40 minutes
Any delays in there it is close to a wash

I've never been to El.Paso, but the jammed between the mountains thing is always interesting. I've seen the Sun Bowl enough, and there's frequently some crazy weather.

I just saw the Arizona bus in Cleveland before it heads down to Arizona. Maybe, Arizona can get a motivation speech from "The Wild Thing."

OMG, bussing to a game. ROFLMAO. RR could or should have said that it would draw the team closer but talk about a negative perception recruiting wise.

Is this game and possibly Oregon State/ASSU be our only remaining wins? Hope we have a lot more in us that than, but wonder right now.

As far as the bus thing: if AZ was winning I don't think anyone would be making hay of this. It's not an issue.

It's a big issue. Name 1 other power 5 program that busses to games 275 miles away.

I beg to disagree Penguin. Would Miller bus to a game? Hell, he won't even fly commercial. I get its 85 vs maybe 20 but still.
I will stand corrected if someone can show me another power 5 school that bussed 4.5 hours to a gane. What are we, Pima CC?

I was thinking about going to the game, only about 3.5 hours from my house but last week killed my enthusiasm.
This used to be my sig line at TOS. An homage to the two years I lived there in the late '80s:

He's probably rode the bus to ASU. Maybe Las Cruces when we played there. That's it.

Well to get to Las Cruces you have to fly to El Paso then take a bus. No way Miller does things bush league like we are. Hey, its AZ football though so we are in our element

forget comparing football to basketball, or our program to any other power conference program.....when the hell was the last time our football team took a bus that far/long to a game?
Also, his fucking comment about saving money really fucking irks me. It's just a plain asshole thing to say in public comments and does nothing positive for the school/program.

I have a feeling if Miller bussed the team to UTEP everyone would say what a great idea it was to keep them humble and focused etc.
There is a stigma of busses and public transportation in The southwest not seen in other areas of the country or world. I think that is part of it too.

Taking a bus to El Paso isn't public transportation. Taking a bus 3 miles across town is.

My first reaction busing to El Paso wasn't RR. It was Heeke. Heeke controls the budget and purse strings
RR left WVU because of costs control and not having enough say in radio rights and sideline passes. Hard for me to think this is RR's idea. In fact, I would think he hates busing more than some of us do.
