Man I want to beat these guys. Oregon will be much different with Herbert. Too bad Burmeister wasn't the starting QB as I am sure Wilborn would deliver a "wrong choice" message from the team

Herbert will probably start and the defense will get a heavy dose of Freeman.

A win vs Oregon would make this a truly special year on the teams and coaches side. Already is for Tate and exposure.

Won't be easy. Toughest road game except for USC this year

Oregon just isn't good this year. Herbert scares me more than Burmeister and playing in autzen obviously isn't easy but man, they've been blown out lately.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.

Coming off bye, particularly with Hebert back, this will be very tough game!! Hopefully, defense can come up with a few turnovers.
Over 90 for sure!!

Especially since Oregon actually has a pretty good run defense. We will have to get some good passing from Tate.

Tate needs to take the shorter routes because they're going to be there. Oregon State figured him out pretty well last night - if he's dropping back, get the safety back so he can roll over the top. Tate's pick last night was one where he thought he had a one on one and the safety came over the top and boom, double coverage. This is really the one flaw in his game right now, where he looks long too often. He'll figure that out. This is kind of a big deal this week because Oregon is actually pretty good against the run, but teams have been throwing all over them. (The exceptions on them stopping the run are Stanford and UW. Both teams did very well on the ground, so if you play it right you can run on them.) They are -3 in turnover margin, which isn't completely ideal but this late in the season -3 is pretty much a wash. Arizona is going to have to play this like they did Wazzu and UCLA - make them run lots of plays instead of allowing the big play, because every play they run is another chance to get a turnover. If AZ can tighten up on third down they could run away with this. If he does play, I do expect Herbert to have a good day - how good remains to be seen. If it's Burmeister, Arizona's D is likely to be extra motivated.

This, to me, is a very similar game to the USC game.

*edit for clarification

I think it's similar to the USC game in that it's important to show we can go on the road, beat a "big name" team (even if this year's oregeon isn't the oregon of past years) and keep/get a little momentum going into the final game of the season.
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:

Oregon's talent level fell way off under Helfrich, but we aren't so loaded that it's an easy game. Autzen is a tough venue for a young team and this should be a challenge.

Tossup, IMO. Based on the results so far, we have been a better team, but the intangible factors seem to cut against us.

Stats on a per play basis are showing that Oregon and Arizona have similar defenses. On offense though, Arizona has been the better team. But some of those stats are without Oregon's best QB. This should shape up to be a good tough game. Can Arizona make enough plays? They will have the best player on the field so lets hope so.

Interesting stat, in Oregon's last game vs Washington, Washington put 6.3 yards a rush. On average U of A averages 2.2 more yards a rush than Washington.

I just worry about the extra time Oregon had to prep. Next year something must be done about these bye weeks and scheduling. While we did benefit from CU playing the week before we played them, both UCLA and Oregon had byes before we played them. Best would same rest for both teams going into each game minus a day here and there for Friday games, but at a minimum you shouldnt play more than one team coming off a bye in a season.

Definitely agree with that. Last year it felt like we played five teams coming off byes while we didn’t have one.

I think you are talking about 2015.

I did a little further digging. No team played us coming off a bye last year (2016)

2015 we had our bye the last week of the regular season like USC does this year, although USC deserves it by demanding to play Notre Dame later in the season and not in the first three weeks of the season. But in that year only Oregon State played us off a bye.

Anyway the point is is that it needs to be consistent moving forward unless you are Stanford and USC and have your demands about Notre Dame.

Of the three good teams Oregon has played (Washington, Washington State and Stanford), Oregon gave up more yards per rush and yards per pass to all three compared to what the other team has averaged for the year. Except for WSU passing, WSU had 6.7 yards per pass in that a game and that is their season average.

Both teams will be moving the ball.

Fields might have a message for Burmeister IF he gets in as they were supposed to room together. Think this one might be extra nasty and physical.

What we can't have is a wasted half.

We need to be the team that comes out exceptionally prepared and with a great game plan.

Half-time adjustments are obviously going to occur regardless, but if they're occurring because we're down 21 points, that's a recipe for a loss.

Yet, scared pundits said nothing on it as definitive. Best kept secret of the month was Arizona’s defense isn’t good. Pundits and fans are afraid to admit that.

Case in point. So, do you honestly think this Arizona defense is good? An average USC offense threw down 49 duckets on these guys. Oregon State schooled them in the second half. Want to pretend like everyone did with Casteel’s defense or are we gonna live in reality here?

7-3 is all that counts and we would've 9-1 if Tate had started game 1. Defense is improved but certainly not great. Never will be with RR's offense but keep trying to drag fan opinion down program cancer man

USC is not an average offense. They are very good with tons of NFLers on it.

Yeah no chance that the defense let up off the gas a bit when they were blowing out Oregon and gave up less than 100 yards in the first half?

They are not great but they are decent and improving dramatically. Anyone who watches it and not just looks at stats can see that.
