Laie is a 6-4, 318 (+28 since signing day), Freshman offensive lineman from Oceanside HS, Oceanside, CA. Laie is a large human being who could be a future starter at tackle. He is mobile and athletic and was a very good high school basketball player. Here's Brandon Combs analysis, AZ Desert Swarm:
Laie is a force along the offensive line. He is powerful and actually moves well for someone his size. He is imposing human being and has a real nasty edge to his game. He also controls his body well and has nice footwork. He is coming in to Tucson with nice size and has the frame to add some more weight. Laie finished off his high school career by winning First Team All-San Diego honors for the third straight year.
69 is the total number of penalties Arizona had last year*. That was 6th in the conference. As a comparison Texas A&M had 67 penalties last year.
