When he’s ready, this kid will be all kinds of fun to watch.

He is going to have to reach to his knees to hand it off to JJ Sid :)

Gunnell won’t have to worry about that.

Think he was on Mazzone's radar while at aTm and they had a good rapport and stuck together.

If things go well Gunnell won't see the field except in mop up duty for no more than 4 games.

That would be ideal. I’m hopeful Tate remains healthy and has a productive season for us.

I imagine having a real backup like Gunnell will make Tate more inclined to listen to Sumlin and Mazzone now.

When your primary backup has the weakest arm in the PAC-12, you just know that you can get away with more dumping the ball off instead of trying to run for a first down.

With the top 3 receivers all leaving, maybe Tate can go through his progressions better too. Especially with Poindexter gone to get those jump balls.

So many times Tate couldn't see a wide open receiver. RhettRod could see them, just couldn't get the ball to them quickly.

Not sure why Sumlin refuses to wear a boot. Not a very good example for the players who need to wear one.

Gunnell is going to be number 4 on the depth chart come the regular season. He's not topping Tate/Doyle/Rodriguez

This is a good problem to have. Don't burn him if you don't have to.

Hopefully he can get in 4 blowout games to save his redshirt just to see how he does.

I know BJ Denker had a noodle arm like RhettRod, and did well, and both seem to understand the offense real well, just hard to see RhettRod as a P5 QB when he can't throw a a rope 20 yards.

I know Rhett Rod is a smart guy and knows the playbook pretty well, but his arm makes BJ Denker look like Aaron Rodgers. No zip on the ball at all, and has to float everything past 20 yards.
