39 Days Coach John Rushing

Coach Rushing enters his 2nd year with Arizona and will be switching from coaching safeties to coaching linebackers this year. Rushing's coaching speciality has been safeties (the position he played at Wash St and in the NFL and CFL), but he has been coaching for 20 years and had done some work with linebackers while coaching in the NFL.
It will be the third coach in 3 years for Schooler and Fields. Here are some comments on the coaching change from a Brian Pedersen story at AZ Desert Swarm on spring practice:
“Most people think of it (in) as negative way, like we’re getting taught three different things, but I think of it (in) a positive way because we’re getting more tools to our toolbox each year,” Fields said Wednesday. “Even within two weeks with Coach Rush, we’ve learned so many new things.”
In Rushing, he gets a coach who has experience working with linebackers on special teams while with the St. Louis Rams in 2016 but also one who coached on the offensive side. Rushing said he hopes to use that background to help Fields and the other linebackers understand what’s going on elsewhere on the field.
