Texas tech is giving up 6.5 points per game so far. We give up 41.5.

We are currently:
126th in scoring defense-43 ppg
126th in passing defense-404.5 ypg
128th in 3rd down defense-opponents convert 56% of the time

TTU is currently:
28th in scoring offense-41.5 ppg
13th in passing offense-350 ypg
16th in 3rd down conversions

Granted, we both played weak opponents but contrary to us TTU looked good doing it.

This is going to be ugly.

Some people may be giving Texas Tech to much credit. UTEP has won one game in the past two years and Montana State couldn't even beat College of Idaho this week, whoever they were. I think Hawaii is a bit better than people want to give them credit for. We'll see how things play out. BEAR DOWN.

I like the cats in this one. They should be motivated to remove that giant hemorrhoid from their ass. They play much better at home.

One those oppo's being UTEP. UTEP would have trouble against a team made entirely of sloths.

We've played opponents just as bad as they have...and are giving up 5 touchdowns a game more.

One opponent just as bad. Hawaii is way better than the other three.

If we have any chance, it's in generating turnovers. That's the only really competent area of D we've had, mainly through INT's.

I don't think we win. TTU isn't a world beater, but we even gave up 10 points in the first half to NAU with multiple picks. We just don't stop teams on downs much.

I'm not so dismissive of this game. Running up 700 yds against NAU was exactly what we needed. And Texas Tech hasn't played anybody or on the road yet.

Gambling is pretty indicative of how people, other than fans, think the game is going to go. I don't mind bringing up betting.

That being said... THROW THE MORTGAGE on Texas Tech's team total. With the over/under at 76.5 and -2, should be about 39.5. OVER OVER OVER

Okay bro. You would know right, since you are so obsessed with me.

You are such a keyboard warrior. You would never have the courage to say something to somone's face like you say on here and you certainly dont have the courage to bet big on Texas Tech.

The line and the movement of the line is very important. There is a reason why all sports media outlets are talking about it and including it now

Why?

Does it make the players play better or worse?

Does the betting line make Yates learn how to develop a defense?

Does it make us better fans?

I like us to win this game so I think if you are a bettor, take the points. One thing though is that Matt Wells > Kevin Sumlin in my eyes. When he was at Utah st he beat some big boys ans his teams were always ready and well prepared. He will find a way to control that clock and keep our offense off the field I think. that over might be fools gold

This game plays to TT's strength (passing) and our weakness (pass coverage and lack of pressure on the QB) They're going to roll us.

If so, I'll agree that you were right, and I was an idiot to involve myself. But I'm such an idiot, I can't help myself!

Normally, this is when Arizona wins as an underdog at home against a quality opponent, making us all feel good and raising our expectations.

You know what comes next.

A loss against the worst UCLA team in history. They will get worked by Oklahoma this week. Oh and BTW, they are giving 4 FREE tickets to every season ticket holder for this game. And we think we have it bad

Yeah I can see us winning this game, getting confident, having a bye to prepare for a bad UCLA team at home...and then getting creamed by UCLA by 30 points.

Just watched a lot of the Texas tech/UTEP game and I would say that UTEP is just slightly better than NAU. Comparing them with Hawaii I would sat that Hawaii has a better offense and Tech has a better defense.

Not a bettor, but think what Machina was trying to say is that Vegas determines the odds based on trying to get bettors to bet 50/50 on each team, not on actually predicting who will win since a lot of emotion goes into betting by fans.

The sharps are better at predicting who will win so their only aim is to make money, so they look at the late line movements and use that to place their bets.

That's my understanding anyway, follow the sharps, not your heart.

The line movement only tells you where the money is flowing into. The line is often tilted one way or the other at the open because they know certain teams always receive a lot of flow. I am not sure how the movement of the line would be important other than if you knew the sharp's were moving it (generally they wait until the day of the game to learn all they can about injuries, weather and other items)

When I lived in Tucson, I was acquainted with a few very serious bettors...

... to my knowledge, they seldom placed bets more than an hour before a game actually started. I was with them occasionally on NFL Sundays, but assume this pattern was characteristic of most of their sports betting.

There is a series on Showtime called Action. While this is true most of the time, sharks do bet early from time to time to purposely manipulate the line early.

I'm with you on that. I watched Montana State play and I think NAU could beat them and I think UTEP might be the second worse football team in the country behind Kent State.

I agree with the goofball "Chief" on the staff personnel. Collectively, outside of maybe Iona on the DL, and DeMarco being unknown at this point they are all replaceable and I mean today.

The staff in general are huge underachievers. We are paying people to coach that have no business in those positions and the team displays their mediocre craft of coaching.

I have no idea how long the profoundly underachieving Yates and the rest of the moribund defensive and ST coaches are going to remain employed as our coaches.

Its long past time for Sumlin to grow some balls if possible or plan on a career change outside of football.
