Colorado first of course, but this game will be an 8 PM kickoff on FS1.
UW still looks pretty good this year and 8 PM kickoffs suck

8pm kickoffs should be banned.

I hate it and love it. Washington always seems to have a hard time with late starts in the desert.

Likewise hoping FS1 is back on Dish by then too. So fucking annoying to have to work around that if not. Assuming a (cautiously optimistic) W in Boulder, this shapes up to be a Big game (although I certainly know better than to get too excited about that). Am I showing my battered Wildcat fan syndrome?

Does Washington play Oregon the next week? If so they might get caught looking ahead

They have Stanford before and Oregon after.

Huskie fans'll be the first to bemoan their woes in the desert. Last time we got really lucky when they visited Tucson. Then ASU blanked them in a late game two years ago. This time around I'm sure the Huskies've heard enough about their difficulties and bad desert luck to want to get the monkey off their back. This is where coaching comes in and does its job of motivating the players. For a coaching staff (Petersen) that tends to blow a game they shouldn't every year, we might've lost our chance when Washington stubbed their toe against Cal last month.

Staring at the prospect of three straight losses might have them extra motivated or playing extra tight? I guess we’ll see...

After they lost to Cal they played pretty angry against Hawaii. I fear the same Saturday.

The way we are playing and improving this is certainly a game we should be competitive in. I am expecting a close game.

Yea a couple weeks ago I would have assumed we lose by 30. Now we have a chance, but this is Arizona football after all. Usually as soon as we all get on board and start to get excited...it all comes crashing down.

Considering UW just lost and it's at Arizona that seems high. I'd bet it goes down to like 7 by gametime

I was going to post something similar. The moment the team wins a couple, and fan interest picks up a bit and expectations rise a bit, we go out and get beat down pretty badly and remind everyone that we're still not close to being a good team.
So I fully expect us to get boat raced. Here's hoping for another surprise though

Very happy with 4-1. The Hawaii game still leaves such a sour taste in my mouth, but maybe it was what we needed to get our heads straight. Stop with the commenting on a QB's GF instagram and just play ball. Would rather lose that than a Pac12 game.
Now I think the worst possible thing was for UW to lose to Stanford. That hurts.

Line has moved to -6 at some books and the O/U is down to 58 which is surprising. UDub has had trouble stopping the run after losing those two bit tackles from last year. Hopefully we make a lot of people cash on the money line

Just proves that if the cats win on the field that fans will back them. Of course family weekend always draws the biggest crowd. Time to not let the fans down for the hundredth millionth time.

I won’t be around when you are 50 years in as a fan and if there is another 50 years of let downs you might then understand that the cats fan base is as loyal as it gets.
Sure they have fans that may decide not to go when in reality there might not be better options in Tucson on a Saturday night and they could get in bed by midnight. But the bulk of the fans not showing up now are people that have come to the stadium, spent loads of money on hotels, lunch or dinners and too often have left with another bitterly disappointing let down performance.
I know you can see we are once again at this crossroads. Perfect opportunity to beat a respected but less than their usual Peterson type team in Washington. Big crowd on hand, first place on the line, National game. Cats can grab a lot of fan currency with a good, winning performance. Will they? Can’t wait to see.....on TV

Greg, I really think you are right. Tate seems improved, money time for him. The coaches look like they have a plan and both sides of ball look to be playing with confidence. Why not Arizona

Some website that does stats and analysis for college football ranks all 130 starting QBs weekly, and currently Tate is ranked #8 in the country with whatever their metric is.

Hawaii/Vodka = loss
NAU/Who Cares = win
TTech/Coors Light = win
Ruins/Coors Light = win
Colorado/Coors Light = win
Consuming copious amounts of CL’s Saturday night for the curb stomping win. It’s my duty!

Our only chance at a win is if JJ touches the ball at least 20 times in the game. IMO

Need to own the clock so I agree. I like what we did with Tate and opening passing lanes for easy completions. You have to figure Washington will load the box and try and stop our strength.
Tate just needs to run 8-10 times a game to really influence the defense. His early runs seem to set the tone. We will need JJ back as he is our best protection back on the blitz

UW is 8-0 after losses the last few years and has won those games by an average of like 17 points. So on paper this is a game we get blown out in.

I know I'm overreacting but I swear in the 17 years I've watched Arizona football, our record in big games after our season starts to look positive and be on the upswing....must be like 2-15 or something awful.

Guess the fans and reporters want Peterson to use true freshman at those two spots t he says they are not ready. I expect a really physical UDub team Saturday night. Hoping we are mentally prepared for what’s coming. Tomey always did a great job of getting his players to understand the psyche of the other team coming into a game

They must not be counting the visitor and band seats or something since official listed capacity is still 55,675

I'm not opposed to going to 45 or 50k seating. Everyone in the country is upgrading seats while attendance is down. It looks so much more clean having a small, but full stadium

This might be the most interesting game of the year and not because of the pics Greg will be posting in the game thread.
First off we are a decided home dog. Washington loses and we are 4-1 coming off a road win and vegas suggests UDub as a road favorite at -9.5. That is crazy to me given the results. In fact, UDub is only 2-5 in its last 7 as a road favorite
They have only won one game in the state of Arizona since 2007 and that was an OT win by their playoff team over a 3-9 wildcat team.
The cats lead the league in interceptions yet only have a league low 4 sacks. They also face more passes than anyone else in the conference (47% of plays, league avg is 35%) which would make you think we are taking away the run but we are in the bottom 4 in the conference in yards per carry by our opponent. We are 55th in pass defense efficiency and 59th against the run. Pretty pedestrian really.
Washington is only 81st against the run and we are 12 in running offense but you know they will load the box on us. The Huskies have not lost 2 in a row since the 2015 season.
To me, this is the game we would have won that we were not expected to win IF UDub had beaten Furd. Now I fear we have their full focus and attention. They will be physical and ready and should be as sharp as they were on the road at BYU and at home against USC.
It comes down to Kahlil Tate. He is a special player in his SR year. When he wants to play he goes things other QB’s just can’t do. He is the difference and he wills us to a 27-24 win Saturday night
