6 pm Saturday on FoX.

For us, basically copy/paste from the USC for the depth chart, although WRs Brian Casteel and Drew Dixon are apparently back in the good graces. C Josh McCauley surprisingly played the whole USC game on a bad knee, so hopefully he'll again be available. The only nick I recalled was what appeared to be a sprained ankle by a second-string defensive back.

For Washington, they had their opening game at Cal cancelled, and they beat Oregon St in Seattle on Saturday night by a final of 27-21. They're going with a redshirt freshman QB, and they've got a big running back and a pretty big interior O-line, so it would figure they'll try to pound it more than USC did.

Here's how they present themselves:

OFFENSE
LT 51 JAXSON KIRKLAND Jr., 6-7, 295
LG 68 ULUMOO ALE So., 6-6, 355

WR 12 PUKA NACUA So., 6-1, 210
WR 4 TERRELL BYNUM So., 6-1, 190
WR 88 TY JONES Sr., 6-4, 200

TBH, I thought we'd get drilled by SC, and I was pleasantly surprised.

My fear is we have no depth on D and will get worn down by them. Offensively, I hope we get decent weather so Gunnell can toss it around.

I think we hang with them for a bit and they separate in the late 3rd and 4th.

UW Coach Jimmy Lake Comments On Arizona

Posted: Wed Nov 18, 2020 1:58 pm
by TheCatInTheHat
From the weekly press conference, here are the comments by first year head coach Jimmy Lake...

On what Arizona does well:

“Their quarterback can throw it. They have a spread attack, a ton of tempo. It’s the same scheme we faced last year with their offense, but now with a quarterback that is very accurate and he can still run with his feet and he can move the chains. Defensively they’re going to be new. They’ve got some new guys, new scheme. This is a team that took USC all the way to the brink and almost had the game won if it wasn’t for the heroics of the USC offense in the last 30 seconds of the game. So we’re going to be facing a very talented opponent, a very motivated opponent, and we’re going to have to play good football and play better football than we did last Saturday to make sure we get the victory.”

On Arizona running back Gary Brightwell:

“This guy’s good. This guy’s a good football player, and what really makes him dangerous is the style of offense. Last week they were a little similar to us, in that Oregon State is going to line up and go, ‘Here you go. We’re packed in here and we’re going to run the football.’ And we’ve got everybody packed in there as well. Well, this team that we’re playing this week is going to be all spread out and you’re going to have to defend all these wide receivers – these fast guys – out on the perimeter. Then when you stretch out and put everybody out there they’re going to hand this ball off to this big running back to try to slice through your front that’s probably going to be reduced by a couple numbers. So that’s the biggest difference in terms of scheme-wise what we’re going to see this week. But he is an excellent runner. He ran really good this last Saturday. We’ve got another really good player on our hands that we have to stop, and we have to do better than we did last week. Hopefully we make that growth and improvement in week two.”

Wonder if UDub will stack the box daring Gunnell to beat them long? Outside of the 75 yard pass v. USC, it seems most his passes went for around 5-7 yards.

That would be interesting if they go that route. I just hope to God that horrific backwards pass play that failed miserably each time gets scrapped!

F me is that really a record we're at now? 8 in a row? I paid so little attention last year I didn't even realize.

Same here, I knew Sumlin was doing poorly, but didn't realize worst that Stoops and Mackovic. Last win was Oct 5th, 2019

Yeah, sorry ass coaching staff still snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Still not watching a single down until Sumlin is gone.

Long losing streaks usually get snapped early in the next season by a game against an FCS team or a crappy FBS team. Thanks to COVID we have neither. This record will probably stand for a long time.

I mean he should transfer. Whether it is due to ability or pathetic coaching I have no idea, but it is obvious that he will never see the field here.

What's Sumlin's buyout after this season?

I think 5 million...too much. Besides, we like paying people a lot of money to suck at their job.

2018: $10 million
2019: $10 million
2020: $5 million
2021: $3 million
2022: $1 million

Never ever hire a fired coach. Sumlin, like RichRod, knows it's a lot easier to not work hard and collect millions, or work hard and collect millions.

Yep. We really needed an NAU type to end that streak.

We are THE WORST D1 football program in the country. Great to be the best at something! We're the best at being the worst!! Outstanding!

No Kansas is still worse. They haven't won more than 3 games since like 2009.

We've got a longer losing streak.
