Initial Impressions

Post by TheCatInTheHat »

Yeah, I rolled over my season tickets to this year, I'm already booked in Vegas and may also go to Boulder. In terms of the conference, out of about 12 "big" non-conference games, only 4 involve a true home field advantage (and the A&M/Colorado game is at Mile High in Denver, which doesn't provide quite the same effect as on-campus in Boulder.) For us, it's a tough row to hoe. But, at least we should finally end the losing streak with the NAU game, and with a pretty low bar, winning just a few more games beyond that and being more competitive in the ASU game would probably be considered roughly adequate in the Fisch honeymoon year by most UArizona fans.

Advantages/Disadvantages

Colorado has a bye while we're playing UCLA, so that gives them an edge. We have a bye before playing Oregon, but they do too in playing Stony Brook, so that's a wash and they're at home so it probably doesn't matter anyway. (Stony Brook's teams are called the SeaWolves, and yes, I had to look it up.) And USC plays their annual big game at Notre Dame the week before playing us while we're playing Washington, but that probably won't make much difference, either.

I would rather start with NAU then BYU. Opening the conference @ Oregon is something.

I think playing BYU first is good because they will be breaking in a new quarterback, just like the Cats.
