At home? That's a low-scoring affair you've got there Machina.
We beat them 58-13 LY in their house.
But now we're going to score 3 TD's less and allow more points? Nah, not at home, not that big of a swing on both sides of the ball. 45-14 or 45-12 is my prediction (4 FG's on the latter score). I don't think we're going to put up insane numbers, but we're going to trounce them, and our defense should be improved enough that we shut them down effectively.

I could actually see a 38-17 type result. Not saying that we're going to have a lot of issues with them, but if you recall last year against NAU, RichRod used that as a chance to just feel out the team a bit. Mostly he just ran plays and ran clock to get the team out of there with a win and no injuries, and if Javelle Allen doesn't get a big gaping hole then it's a 28-0 win. I think if they get a comfortable lead then RR will use the game as a chance to experiment, hence why I could see a lower score than what we did them by last year.

I think we will be much more explosive but I wonder how much on offense we might show.
UNLV has a bunch coming back and has learned to win but they too are replacing there QB.
I think it ends up 45-10 cats and we see more big play scores this year from our offense

UA 34-17
We won't beat them as badly as last year due to breaking in a new QB. In addition the Rebel defense will be better up front due to the UCLA/Washington transfers (Willis/Shirley).

That would mean a couple of field goals. I know someone who would be happy.

I don't think we score as many as last year, we may see 2-3 qbs. 42-20

RR is going to play only two QBs, and the second QB will get the final two drives and just run. It's been the mo the last two years. I expect the same until he does it differently.

OSUCat is right, Anu is going to start and play almost the entire game. Scroggins will come in and do the last 2 3 and outs without attempting a pass.
42 - 13 Cats roll easy.

Hauck talks Adonis Smith
Former UNLV running back Adonis Smith, who left the Rebels football program for Arizona (his third FBS stop- he began his career at Northwestern)- is on the Wildcats' roster for Friday night's season opener against...UNLV.
Rebels head coach Bobby Hauck, who guided UNLV to its first bowl in 13 seasons last year, had a quick-witted response when he was asked if there was concern about Smith giving the Wildcats any inside knowledge on the Rebels.
Good for Hauck. Smith left the UNLV program despite an excellent opportunity to start and make an impact this season- simply because it was an easy out. At the time, the NCAA had placed the Rebels on a one-year bowl ban because of a low APR score, but that got lifted after the school and the NCAA re-calculated. Sure, he can see the field at Arizona, but after rushing for 90-plus yards in the spring game, he had the chance to replace the school's all-time leading rusher- Tim Cornett- as the starter and help his teammates get to a second straight bowl.
Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. (local- 10:30 eastern) Friday night in Tucson with live television from ESPN.
Well, I don't know how much RR believes in bulletin board material but I'm guessing he will see to it that Smith gets a chance to get a TD. What a comment.
1. UNLV coach Bobby Hauck has said repeatedly this is a good team, and the season opener will provide the first hints of whether he’s right. If the Rebels can at least give Arizona, a 24-point favorite, a competitive game, that bodes well for the season.
2. New starting quarterback Blake Decker has his chance to show he deserved the job. Caleb Herring came off the bench last season to rescue the Rebels. They don’t want anything so dramatic this season, meaning the onus is on Decker to lead the offense, beginning with this game.
3. UNLV’s biggest question entering training camp was its defensive front, and many of those concerns were assuaged by the play of some newcomers. But that was practice. This is the real thing. The play up front against the Wildcats’ challenging read-zone offense will provide clues on what to expect after this game.
4. Running back Tim Cornett is tough to replace, and no one player will try to do it. David Greene and Keith Whitely enter the season as co-starters, and George Naufahu is expected to be part of the rotation as well. If those backs can provide enough of a running game to ease some of the pressure on Decker, that will be huge.
5. Devante Davis is the Mountain West’s best wide receiver, and he is surrounded by talent. Those other players will need to step up to keep Arizona from double-teaming Davis all night, allowing the offense to open up.

Why doesn't somebody give us a position-by-position breakdown for tonight's game, matching each offensive player against a defensive player, and all the way down the depth chart?

I made a $10 wager on Arizona -24, so that just about guarantees a 21 point victory for the Cats. I'm hoping for a final score of 49 - 24 and Arizona covering the spread.
