33 Tyler Loop

Loop is a 6-1,190, Senior kicker from Lucas, TX. He has gone from being our punter in 2000, to being a short kick specialist in 2021, and then handling all the kicking duties for the last 2 seasons. Loop is consistent, has amazing range, and has proven himself in the clutch. He was 2nd team all-conference last year and should compete for all-conference honors again this year. Loops career field goal percentage is 85.96 which would have led the Big12 last season. He is a great weapon to have and we should enjoy his last year as our kicker.

Arizona caught 332 passes last season for 4008 yards. Oklahoma St completed more passes, but for significantly fewer yards per catch and Oklahoma and Texas were the only Big12 schools to throw for more yards.

103/103 for PATs too.

Compare that to a former UA kicker who missed two v. ASU with one with 20 seconds left that would have won the game.

That was painful, and still is.

:D

I'm still mad about the 1972 gold medal Olympic basketball game!

Just saying that it's good when we get a coach who values Special Teams. After Tomey, there was quite a stretch, although Tomey did have the worst kicker in UA history.

Image

Although I have no idea how BB feels about them, but maybe being a Tomey disciple will put some effort into it.

It would be funny if you and I got together with a bottle or 2 and reminisced about past Arizona teams/players/games that bugged us. Just off the top of my head:

Santa Clara/East Tennessee State / 2 seed losses
UNLV - Lofton trying to take a stupid charge
Lute/Kentucky
Steve Kerr vs Oklahoma
Arenas injury vs. Michigan State
Jay Williams humping no call in 2001
Ashley’s foot
Horne’s miss
Wisconsin, Ohio State prevention
Fucking Illinois
Stanford Tiger Woods shot
Penn State opener
Dick Tomey offensive offense
The bad Zendejas
UCLA loss preventing us from the Rose Bowl
Larry Smith to USC (my Mom even wrote a nasty letter)
Mackovic era
UofA QB’s (Veal, etc..) Also see Toney’s offense

Damn straight ECC!

Reminded me of another one, the Jamelle Horne intentional backcourt foul with near no time left and the UA ahead.

Bwahaha!

And let’s not forget the Shakur stepping out of bounds all the time.

How about Michael Wright stepping across the boundary line on the inbounds pass

And MW getting called for a free throw violation against UCLA(?) for taking more than 10(?) seconds.

Only time in my half a century plus of watching college ball I have ever seen that called. Not even sure what the rule is.

I don' think unforced turnovers are tracked in basketball, but Shakur would have set the UA record.

Along with his forced ones during the NCAA tourney.
