Hello everyone - Texas Tech grad here, class of 2007 - I come in peace
TLDR - I'm looking to see if someone would be willing to host 6-7 guys at a tailgate. Happy to pay our way in cash and/or drinks
Longer version:
Every year I take a guys trip with 6-8 of my closest friends from grad school. We all went to Rice together in Houston and got our MBA's in 2014. We're all around 40 years old and married with kids (aka very non-threatening). We try to visit a city that most of us have never been to and take the weekend to do a combination of golf and a college football game (and throw back a few cold beers). Last year we went to Boulder, but in prior years we've been to the Rose Bowl, Chicago/Notre Dame, the RRS/Dallas, Park City, Tampa, Vegas, and Ole Miss. I'm actually the only Texas Tech grad - the other guys went to a random assortment of schools (UT, CU, LSU, GT, Depauw, etc.). Most of the time our gameday attire is what we refer to as "lost fan" (hence the username), where we all wear our own school polos. It usually makes for some very confused looks as well as good conversation.
This year we've chosen Tucson. Flying in on the 3rd for some golf on the 3rd and the 4th and then flying home on the 6th after the game on the 5th. For gameday, we're looking to see if there would be anyone willing to let us post up at their tailgate. We've looked into options like RevelXP where we could get our own setup, but we've done things like that in the past and found that they are not nearly as much fun as visiting and hanging out with the locals. We're more than happy to pay our way in cash and/or drinks. We typically only get this one weekend a year together so try not to let budget be the issue.
Please send me a DM if anyone would be willing to accommodate. Appreciate the consideration in advance - look forward to gameday!
Thanks,
Geoff

Not sure how many on this board are active tailgaters. The one I used to go to broke up, then we went to the one in the indoor practice facility (meh), then we moved out of state. If you don't get a better offer or suggestion, I'd just park wherever you can (maybe north of Speedway on Cherry) and walk to the main tailgating area on the campus mall between Cherry and Campbell (probably closer to Cherry.) I don't think anyone will bother you if you carry in some beer in those little disposable styrofoam coolers you can buy at a convenience store, and while you're on the mall grass, you're legal to walk around and drink all you want. I think there used to be a tailgate with a red double decker bus. Don't know them, but that's a landmark. If you find a spot with a big grill setup, I'd ask who's in charge and make your offer. My guess is that somebody will welcome you in without taking your money.

Thanks! Appreciate the tips. Are there other message boards (or other outlets) I should try? This seemed to be the most active one based on my quick google searches. Great win last night by the way!TheCatInTheHat wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 1:45 pm Not sure how many on this board are active tailgaters. You will be welcomed on the mall by all the gates. Very active groups.
Come by the Red Army gate and bring some drinks and you will have a blast. Since the game is at 8pm I probably won’t get there until 4 though

Waiting at the Rose Bowl patiently for the cats to arrive

I hope our fans host you guys in a great way.
Ever since I went to the Holiday Bowl years ago and saw how Nebraska fans interacted with opposing fans, I've been a Nebraska fan. A very classy group.
Good luck in Tucson and hope you and your buddies have a great time (while watching your team lose).
