I hate everything about ASSU including their pseudo education, their shitty colors, their mascot, their attitude, and the bad reputation they bring to our state.
But they're going to roll us this year.
Fuck.

Home game, T-Macs final UA appearance. Brennan fighting for his job. Lot of players won't be back.
You can never tell with this game.

I like the hint of positivity but I’m praying for 70-7 repeat so we never have to see Brennan and his “aw shucks” face again.

If ASU wins they're in the Big 12 Championship game. If that isn't enough motivation I don't know what is.

What if we got a 70-7 result and you still had to see Opie Brennan on the sideline next season?

Good point. Make it 100-7 just to ensure he’s gone.

My hope for Saturday is for Arizona's State fortunes to finally turn against them. If that sounds vague, half of ASU's wins have come by close, unlikely finishes. Odds are their luck runs out at some point, and hopefully it can be in Tucson.
Otherwise I don't have much hope. One thing I've dreaded about Territorial Cups is that save for a few editions, like last year's, ASU tends to play with more motivation than Arizona. A more motivated ASU could be all it takes to build a big enough early, 14-0 type lead to cause the Wildcats to quit. From then on it's Leavitt hitting every pass, Jordan Tyson rolling up YAC, and Cam Skattebo bowling over the front seven.

ASU is just a deeper, quicker, and more physical team. Compared to us, BYU was, too, and ASU handled them. I realize the associative property of comparative scores doesn't really work in football, but it's still hard to ignore our score at Provo and BYU's score in Tempe and not do that math, regardless of the 3 points for home field. Skattebo reminds me of Norm Bulaich, who was a bowling ball RB for the Colts in the early 70s. DRF can expect some grumpy and uninspired fans for the foreseeable future.

ASu gets out to hot starts. But in their last two games at K-State and against BYU, the game got closer in the 2nd half and ASu held on to win. If we can avoid the disaster start, we have a chance. If ASu gets out to a quick lead and we're down two plus scores before the the band has had a chance to sit down, it's going to be a long day.

Bullshit.
Assuming Joe Savineaa makes it onto the field for the game (and the way he was limping off the field last Saturday I would not count on it) we will have approximately 7 starters left from the 22 players that started against asu last year. 5 on offense, 2 on defense. 68% of last years team is gone......including 3 NFL players on offense.
NIL/Transfer Portal, graduation and injuries have decimated this team, not the coaches.

I know this will not be popular but after the way T-MAC torched them last year they will be gunning for him. They will not be above taking cheap shots at him. I wouldn't let him play knowing that an injury to him is taking away a good part of his draft value and potentially his future. This season is lost. He will play for his buddies regardless but if they cheap shot him I want the bench to empty.

Agree 100%. He is going to be drafted and has a bright NFL future ahead of him. No reason to open himself to the possibility (probability, knowing how the scum play) of injury in the last game of a lost season.

If you want to spin, spin it, don't bullshit me.
You don't win 4 games with 3 1st rounders, various preseason all conference teamers.
Set archaic schemes and unpreparedness of players aside, just talking about personnel. Blame injuries, bad lucks all you want, it is the coaching staff's JOB to identify and develop talents. Moe was a 2 star nobody wanted, big Jonah was a mid 3 star when committed, MacLachlan was a walk-on. You identify and develop talents. If you cannot, bring Cowing, Echols, DJ Williams, Norton or Upshaw from the portal, who's the transfer contributor this staff brought in?
The staff failed on personnel, let along other aspects. Don't let your homerism blind you.

Injuries have really hampered the team in conference play. I think Tmac and maybe Fafita have been dinged up most of season.
But, the team was playing poorly to start the year. The excuse then was that CBB was running a bland offense until the conference games.

Pointing out that 68% of last years starters are presently gone is NOT spinning it...........Its a FACT. You obviously have problems with facts.
Brennan was hired AFTER the transfer portal closed..........and even if he had been hired earlier the pitiful NIL situation at the UA is not conducive to signing top players out of the portal.
If anyone on this board was really serious about improving UA football the discussion would be centered around how the UA is going to raise the $20 million dollars, every year, to properly fund the NIL program so we can actually recruit and field a talented team. Instead most here are just scapegoating a 1st year coach who hasn't even had his 1st recruiting class.

How many UA football coaches have consistently recruited at a "High Level"............Answer: None, ever.
And going forward recruiting at the UA is going to be hampered even more by the lack of NIL. If you don't have the money NO coach will be able to recruit successfully at the UA.
What have you done to support the UA football team??? Have you purchased season tickets or donated to an NIL collective??

There are arguments to be made for Brennan that don't involve his coaching ability. Not good ones, but they're solid arguments nonetheless. Our fiscal crisis has put us in a bind that is rare among Power 4 programs. I get the sense that dmj and other posters are so used to being 'Stockholmed' by bad leadership that we make excuses for the inexcusable.
What Heeke did to our program was one of the most asinine and criminal acts an AD can do. You don’t enjoy smashing success with an NFL guy and then go hire a mid major coach to go finish the job. UofA athletics is not a soup kitchen for OKG’s and friends of the program. There are far too many talented coaches chomping at the bit for a Power 4 job for us to scrape the bottom of the barrel with Brennan. It’s just basic math. You don’t hire someone who nobody wants. It’s not brain surgery. And you certainly don’t give him a black check to get his type of player.
I get a very strong impression that Brennan lacks integrity. He will deflect and scapegoat as long as he’s employed here. It’s why he was so comfortable blaming the players and calling critics inside the fanbase ‘outsiders.’ Heeke should have never allowed someone with Brennan’s record to sign a contract like that. He has no record of recruiting, developing or scheming at a high level. The roster had plenty of enough depth if Brennan had any coaching chops whatsoever. Put another way, if someone like Cignetti was coaching here, we’d have one loss at most. One thing you don’t want to do is give Brennan any rope whatsoever. He will drag the program down to the depths if given even a glimmer of daylight.
So shoutout to Chicat for mentioning Will Stein. He’s the kind of guy that we need. Dilly was successful because he obliterated the portal. His whole team consists of impact transfers from strong schools. Tyson, Skatebooboo, Leavitt, all transfers. Smart, hungry coaches are what the program needs. However, if we let this drag on, I guarantee you Brennan will find a way to strap a bomb to his chest.

Indiana did it right. They hired a head coach with a long (13 years) small college resume of never having a losing season.
They paid $15.5M to pay off their old coach, and got Cignetti for a song.
Cignetti agreed to a six-year contract starting on Dec. 1, 2023 and running through Nov. 30, 2029, with an annual base salary of $500,000. In Year 1, he will earn $3.5 million in annual outside, marketing and promotional income. That figure will increase by $100,000 each year and become $4 million in Year 6.
He is making bank now with his new contract which will end at $8M, and best of all, as part of his new contract the amount allocated for his coaching staff has doubled.
Meanwhile Fisch is making $7.75M!

I dread how much ASU fans are going to fill the stadium and look to be obnoxious the way Wildcats fans filled their stadium in Tempe last year and were obnoxious (specifically me, drinking Pacificos) as Arizona kept adding to their lead. Glad I'm not going to this year's T-Cup.
If this happens it is all Arizona fans fault
Its our fault Brennan drove this team into the ground guys. We better fill the stadium and donate every ounce of money you have. Doing that will suddenly make Brennan a better coach and we will win.
For being so fairweather and getting your feelings hurt absolutely

I wish you and everyone else in Tucson were more fair weather. Then this chump we’re paying 3 mil would get ran out of town and the athletic department would actually consider who they’re hiring instead of some dork who says “it’s his dream job”

How about a thrilling Cats win and a tarmac Sarkesianesque Brennan sacking announcement Sunday morning?

Same here, although if I read this right, it might be cheaper to fire him in January.

Holy fuck does no one learn anything
What is to prevent Brennan from doing great in the portal besides not having a ton of NIL? Nothing
Last year he had no chance at the portal due to timing. He could only go after Bama or Washington guys in the early window
asu has a ton of new starters from the portal? Why can’t UA do the same.
Firing him in January would be the dumbest thing imaginable

You mean kids would rather go play for a young fiery coach who had crazy success as an assistant? Weird. Me personally, I’d rather play for a piece of milk toast that boasts a fantastic 34-48 record at a group of 5 school.
Also I agree. Dont fire him in January, fire him 2 weeks ago.
