Narrowly escaped the Pirate & Wazzu - they also got screwed on a passing interference call or lack thereof. The cougars lit up the Oregon defense with its over abundant passing game.

Will nnot be a blow out. Cats defense plays its best game of The year and we run for 200+ yards.

Game comes down to the last possesion and the team that has it wins

Depends on whether Oregon's O-line is healed. WSU wouldn't have been close without killing the backups on the line.

I don't think it'll be a blowout because I believe in RichRod and this offense. I just don't think we can put together enough stops.

I think Oregon is gonna want some payback.

We lose by 20.

We lose by 2 TD's. Defense plays better, because I think they had one of their worst games ever last night, but Oregon's an exceptional team, and they're just too good. We get some decent scoring drives in 2nd and 3rd quarters, but UO keeps the scoring up, Mariota doesn't make any mistakes, and we end up losing. I expected this one, so we can still get 10 wins like I predicted!!!!

My balls and heart say it's close and we might win. Head says we lose by 30+ since Oregon wants payback and will run it up.

We have won at Autzen exactly two times in the last 20 years, one of those being the best team in Arizona history.

I just hope we keep it respectable and stay healthy for U$C.

Oregon 51-31. The Ducks are good for one really flat quarter per game, but Mariota isn't hampered by his knee this year like he was last year. Arizona is going to be walking into the angriest stadium they'll see all year. The Ducks have the playmakers but they also have the composure that Cal did not possess. This game will be close at half - Arizona may even lead - but Oregon's just going to have too much.

Yeah that happens lot. We'll be up like 21-17 at half and then lose 52-28

Arizona lose by 14 in a relatively low scoring game (28-14).

With such vanilla run calling (1 fly sweep the past two games?), Oregon will play mostly man. I also expect Anu to have issues against Oregon at Oregon, like he did at UTSA. Oregon is going to be loud, and Oregon is really good at mixing up coverage to confuse the QB. A great time to have a bye week though, and hopefully we get the defense straight and the offense on the same page at the start of a game.

I hope that I am wrong and we win (could you image the atmosphere if we where 5-0 facing USC at home?).

Oregon 52 Cats 27 unless we somehow manage to ring Mariotas bell again.

We just need to avoid injuries which we can't afford due to our lack of depth.

O R E G O N can't stop the run. We will not get blown out. Perfect time for a bye and in the RR years, he has always played then well.

We will be in the game into the fourth

After last night, I'm not counting out anything. We've learned under Rich Rod that we will never back down, or call it quits until literally the last second runs out.
Honestly, Wazzu's pass happy attack exposed Oregon's defense a little bit. Keep in mind, Wazzu lost to Nevada and Rutgers, so nothing is certain.
I say we give it a game, but ultimately the stadium at Autzen becomes too much, 34-24 Oregon. At least I will get to see some Oregon cheerleaders. That cheers me up a bit.

49-0 and 66-10 and last year's Asu games do kinda break that never back down thing

That and Ok State had kicked our ass the last 2 times we played them and yet we hung a 58 on them after they jumped out to a 17-0 lead. That crap is really next to meaningless as we can play that game a lot if you want? At Stanford in RR's first year?

The 49-0 game we had a ton of chances to be in that game early and often so I'm not sure that's a good one to use. You didn't mention LY's game when we had just lost to Wazzu and you and everybody else gave us no chance to win that game. We were 18 point dogs at home. We will take a better team into Autzen TY then we had LY and what we took to Autzen in '12.

What makes Arizona difficult to cover and what caused problems for Oregon time and time again was Denker rolling out and waiting till the DB came up to stop the run and left the WR wide open. I'm sure they will have something worked out for TY's game but Anu's ability to run when you least expect it makes our O even tougher for the Ducks then LY. Not to mention that Oregon couldn't stop KaDeem to save it's life.

I'm not saying we will win but I think we will give them a game.

If the Cats can keep the quackers from hanging two or three quick scores on them in the first half it will be close. No comeback this time, this is NOT going to be an epic beat down but oregon will win this one.

It's not just that he runs when you don't expect it. It's also that he is so damned elusive. You think they've got him and suddenly he's two or three yards ahead of the guys trying to tackle him. When the Cats O-line works out the issues they were having getting a push in the run game against Cal, the zone read becomes a deadly option. Solomon only has to run 5-7 times per game to keep teams from keying on Wilson and Jones-Grigsby. All this and they have to cover the receivers as well.

If the Cats can pull out the win, you'd have to think that they'd go from unranked to Top-10 in the polls and plant themselves firmly in the hunt for the playoff (however briefly).

Lot at stake here for our boys.

They're the #2 team in the nation, it will be at their place under the lights, primetime on Thursday. I'm not realistically expecting a win, I'm just hoping it'll be competitive to the end.

Note: This post just might mean absolutely nothing. :D

After 4 games both Oregon and Arizona are 4-0. Oregon has played S Dakota, Michigan St, Wyoming, and Washington St. Arizona has played UNLV, USTA, Nevada, and Cal.

Stats:
Total Offense:
Arizona #6 593.6 yards per game
Oregon #9 555.3 yards per game

Passing Offense:
Arizona #7 365.8 yards per game
Oregon #15 330.0 yards per game

Rushing Offense:
Arizona #31 228.0 yards per game
Oregon #32 225.3 yards per game

Scoring Offense:
Oregon #5 48.5 points per game
Arizona #21 42.0 points per game

Total Defense:
Arizona #94 430.5 yards per game
Oregon #100 443.5 yards per game

Passing Defense:
Arizona #109 295.3 yards per game
Oregon #117 315.3 yards per game

Rushing Defense:
Oregon #47 128.3 yards per game
Arizona #53 135.3 yards per game

Scoring Defense:
Oregon #42 21.3 points per game
Arizona #83 27.3 points per game

I feel that Oregon's defense numbers are skewed towards the pass as they have been up more I n their games than we have plus they have played the pass happy Cougs already.

That's pretty damn big, aside from the 245 guy.

I hope we use that bye week to full effect. If Oregon couldn't stop us with Denker at the helm, I think we can at least hang with them for a while with a QB who can make all the throws. AS would need a perfect game (like BJ had against Oregon LY) to beat them though, and the D would have to step up (also just like LY).

Oregon's O line is decimated. It's a classic clash of a moveable object and a resistable force.

Mariota was running for his life against WSU, so if we can't get pressure against them...

Started a thread on Oregon's 247 board, Autzen Audibles. I like that board for Duck talk. They're cautiously optimistic and well aware of their weaknesses and Arizona's improvement under RR. Anyway, I figure qwertyus and azgreg like to join in with opposing fans. I'm BoiseCat on 247 (and Scout). Check it out if you like.

We didn't blitz nearly enough the first 3 games as we did vs Cal. Not to mention Bondy whiffed on 2 sacks all by himself. Knowing that Wazzu got pressure I seriously doubt that we don't come after Mariotta a lot in this game. We will play 2 LB's again with Bondy and Parks playing Hybrid LB's. I don't think we will win but if we can keep it close late and give ourselves a chance then who knows.

Here's one Duck fans opinion of the upcoming game:

This game won't be easy for Oregon. RichRod is doing a very good job at Arizona and smacked Oregon around last year. That game was shocking, and I would imagine that the Ducks will be very motivated. If Oregon's defense doesn't make adjustments this game could be like the shoot out versus Foles the year Oregon made the Rose Bowl in Chip's first season as head coach.

Hopefully either Fisher is back or Frost/Helfrich figures out how to mitigate our line issues. Should be a fun game, and I'm hoping I can go despite it being a Thursday night matchup.

UTSA and Nevada are decent mid majors who should make bowls. Heck, we beat Nevada by 7, Nevada beat WSU by 11 and WsU lost to Oregon by 7. Thus, we're guaranteed to beat Oregon by 11.
