Get a nice lead by half, rest starters.

Just get out alive and rest up for pac-12 play.

Show maturity and take care of business quickly. Don't look ahead to UCLA and game day.

8pm start but still expecting 50K plus for the first half

Take this game seriously, every game is important. We can't give them any opportunities to believe they can win this. Their offense has looked real good lately and if we aren't entirely present mentally we could be in for some real trouble.

Ultimately I think this game is over after 1.5 quarters. If they give us a real fight then we are in big trouble.

I'm aware of that and the point remains the same. If he could trade out most of his guys for the BG guys - he would in a second. Rosen struggled and I'm curious as to the reason why Bug thinks that might have happened. I'm tempted to pop some popcorn because I'm sure the reason is a good one. ;)

He struggled because UNLV is a completely different team than in the past. UNLV is actually decent and i can see Sanchez turning it around here

They aren't that different as they're still picked to finish last in the MW. I get he's changing the culture but you don't turn a roster over in one season. They are ranked #127th out of 128 teams by Phil Steele.

You're basing one game for a true freshman that had a different completion percentage from game one to game two? Like you say DC....a win is a win. No style points. He's 2-0 as a true freshman starter. Smh....such double standards my dear DC.

well...it is only good if we don't look too good against the jacks.

between the game not even ending until 2:30/3:00 am on the east coast and it being on the nonexistent pac 12 network i highly doubt anyone east of the mississippi will have a clue that we played.

This is true. Every national media outlet was all over the Auburn/Jacksonville State debacle, none mentioned ASU/CalPoly.

I don't think they put lines on FBS vs. FCS games.

Sagarin has it at about UA -28.5

I think it might depend on the service because some places had ASU -34.5 against Cal Poly.

When the entire country is riding his jock like he's going to win the Heisman every year and he goes 22-42 against a team ranked 127th of 128 teams - are you kidding me? I can go 22-42 against Unlv. He goes 10-22 and it's not that big of a deal to your point. He threw the ball 42 freaking times and completed all of 22 - any slap dick be it a walk-on or a 5th year Senior can do that.

Everyone's riding his dick because he was one of the top incoming qbs in the country. Shocking I know.

As for how he's playing, he's played two games as a freshman, with different results. Just look back to Anu last season and you'll see you can have some duds your first time in a new offense.

It's probably safe to say we should just cool our judgement jets till we get further into the season.

DC- He's 50 for 77 which is a 65% completion percentage and has thrown 4 TDs. Not too shabby from a true freshman. Anu was a RS freshman last year and threw a 59% completion or was it lower? 56?

Solomon's first 2 games: 42/76 55% 656 yards 5 tds and 0 ints
Rosen's first 2 games: 50/79 63% 574 yards 4 tds and 1 int

I don't disagree. Just putting out the numbers to compare. I'm in the camp that says Rosen is going to be a very good QB his whole time at fUCLA.

Why in the world would you compare Rosen and Anu in their first year? The situations are no where near each other.

UCLA offensive line is considered one of the best in the nation, there was no such talk about the Arizona offensive line in 2014 or now.
-UCLA has 1 sack in the first two games and Arizona was ranked 113 in sacks allowed.
Offensive line matters. They can make average QB's seem great (TAMU) and bad offensive lines can make average QB's worse (ASU).
Additionally, Perkins 2015 is a front runner, Wilson in 2014 was not a front runner.
UCLA overall talent > Arizona overall talent.

I do not see Rosen producing the same numbers if he was with Airzona this year, or many other teams. UCLA might win the National Championship, but that doesn't make Rosen the best QB in the nation. This is alot like the thinking that get NFL teams to recruit bad QBs (Manziel, most running QBs, USC QBs, ect).

Please point out where I said anything about comparing Anu to Rosen or Rosen to Anu? I love how you avoid a topic that you don't have an answer for. It was a sorry ass Unlv team and he went 22-42. Period. Why is that so difficult for you to follow? You could probably sit back there as QB for Ucla and complete 22-42 against Unlv. My take which Bug and Bruin1 will no doubt disagree with - is it goes back to the Hail Mary drill when Rosen couldn't hit the receiver. As the reporter mentioned and Bug tried to spin as something else - it comes down to focus and maturity.

I have no doubt that Rosen will be focused for the Arizona game - question I have is will he be focused for the BYU game? No doubt their players and fans can read the same stuff we can as far as speculation goes as to whether or not GameDay will be here for the game next week. On the surface it looks like the perfect trap game for Ucla. Tough not to look ahead as they know Arizona should win v NAU and now they have to do their part. We will see. Kind of like knowing you have to beat Stanford at home and you win the South....

It is. BYU has everything to play for because all of these "Big" games against Power 5 schools decide their fate at the end of the season. Ucla on the other hand is playing for what? To see if Game Day shows up in Tucson next week?

RR talked about it a little the other day after practice. RR had hoped that he would walk-on here, but NAU offered a full ride and he jumped at it. He laughed because he said he knew who Jeff was cheering for but he couldn't answer for Casteels wife and then he laughed. Plus, you have to wonder if the son wants to be coached at this level by his Dad? It would different if the son was a RB but it's his Dad who is the LB coach. HS is one thing but major college football is a completely different deal and I don't think it's an easy thing at all at any level but especially the college or pro level.

Glad he didn't follow the Steve Alford book on playing for your pops. You either need to be the clear cut best or the worst. When you are in the middle people always will question the judgement.

My prediction:

NAU 20
Arizona 45

I think RR rotates bodies like crazy but still hides some secret weapons and plays for UCLA.

AST's 5 stories on NAU includes some Adam Hall discussion:
With Adam Hall’s cousin, Derik Hall, on the NAU roster it brings to mind the former heavy-hitting Arizona safety.

Rich Rodriguez and Adam had an enigmatic relationship, one that ended in 2012 before Hall could play in Rodriguez’s first season as coach.

With Hall missing from practice, Rodriguez was quoted as saying by the Arizona Daily Star: “Maybe he’s doing rehab or something like that, but I haven’t seen him as part of our daily program. It’s been about a month. I’ve been working with the guys who have been here every day.”

Hall, a Palo Verde High School standout, suffered two torn ACL injuries and his promising Arizona career unfortunately never blossomed.

When I ran a supportive Facebook post of B.J. Denker in 2013, after one of Denker’s better performances, Hall responded adamantly that sophomore quarterback Javelle Allen should be the starter at that position instead.
