2 straight games with a passing efficiency of over 150%. 6 TD'S with 0 INT's with a 66% completion %. Granted its against OOC opponents but hey it's not Cal Poly or Idaho

Should pad the states even more next week v. NAU. Hopefully Randall can get in for a quarter or more.
Re: Official Anu Solomon Appreciation Thread
I like the option of Randall playing when the team needs to burn some clock. Anu does fine when the Cats are in their normal tempo. But when they slow it down, it really seems to throw the entire team off, especially since he's really not a running threat (And we don't want him to be ... stay healthy, Anu!).Merkin wrote:Should pad the states even more next week v. Wonder if the coaches would seriously consider playing Randall in the 4th quarter of a tight game with the Cats leading?
Go Cats!!

DC- I know this. Remember our conversation from the other board? Last year was the first time that most DCs and staff from the PAC 12 got to see Anu. This is the second time. UTSA handled him well as can be. That roll right like I told you, might not be as effective now. We'll see. Glad you brought up our talk from a few weeks ago....makes me feel at home.
Re: Official Anu Solomon Appreciation Thread
We're going on 16 games now. Did the DC's from LY not watch film? Did the DC's from TY not watch film from LY? The number was 13 TD's not 3 and he's leading ALL other QB's from the Power 5 conferences. Try as you might there's really nothing you can say to that. It's not 2 games and 3 TD's, it's 16 and 13 and no doubt that number will continue to climb. How many TD's did Denker have throwing to his left in a 13 game season? My guess would be almost all of them. If DC's couldn't take away Denker from going to his left then I seriously doubt they will take away Anu going to his Right.chiefzona wrote:dc4azcats wrote:"Since the start of last season". In about 9 quarters of play Anu is sporting a 67.7% completion rate for 241.3 ypg and 3 tds
Re: Official Anu Solomon Appreciation Thread
Same guy who was writing for TodaysU yesterday is now working for TucsonNewsNow with an article on "The quiet success of Anu Solomon."
Nice to see everyone wants an article from the best football writer in Arizona.(Anu) is one of two quarterbacks in the country who has double-digit touchdown passes and no interceptions. The other is USC's Cody Kessler. Each has thrown for 10 scores.
Re: Official Anu Solomon Appreciation Thread
70-7 since he started at Bishop Gorman. All he does is win. I don't care how he does it and I don't think he cares either. Just win baby!!scumdevils86 wrote:In about 9 quarters of play Anu is sporting a 67.7% completion rate for 241.3 ypg and 3 tds

Re: Official Anu Solomon Appreciation Thread
From Sports Illustrated. DESERT QB, ISLAND MENTALITY: IS ARIZONA'S ANU SOLOMON THE PAC-12'S NEXT DUAL-THREAT STAR?
The last sentence couldn't be more true. The PAC championship and Fiesta Bowl seem to be the only Arizona game anyone in CFB media watched last year. You got the sense from off season chatter that Arizona had the misfortune of another year with Solomon. This nevertheless served as the moment that set the conditions of Solomon's off-season, not least because Rodriguez wasn't exactly humming a tune in the aftermath of the loss. The Arizona coach said he teased some fans at one point that he didn't talk to Solomon for two months after the game. This was not true.
It was more like two weeks.
"The truth is, he made some decisions he wouldn't have made earlier in the year," Rodriguez says. "He really took it to heart. Anu is calm and collected, but it's a lot more important to him than sometimes he lets on."
Rodriguez wanted the hurt to sink in a bit with Solomon—actually, he wanted all of the Wildcats to feel that hurt—and the irony of a disappointing ending to 2014 was that it was just what the coaches needed to goose their talented quarterback along. "He didn't finish like he should have," Arizona co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Rod Smith says. "I met with him specifically and told him, you need to come out and play next season with the biggest chip on your shoulder, ever. Because you didn't have a bad year. You had a good year. But you fizzled. And people are questioning you."

I miss Anu
Re: Official Anu Solomon Appreciation Thread
Best player on offense and best player on defense missing. Tough year.
Re: Official Anu Solomon Appreciation Thread
Anu better allow us to score a whole lotta points when he gets back
Re: Official Anu Solomon Appreciation Thread
4 very winnable games with Anu. Hopefully he gets back. 39-9 TD to INT ratio. That is great for a sophomore. My goodness he wins

Miss you, Anu. Had severe Ronnie Veal flashbacks last night. Enough with the Florida quarterbacks who can't throw.
Right where I want to be.

I was thinking of Veal too, along with Chuck Levy who played QB at least once when Dan White was hurt. Levy at QB beat Oregon without the UA completing a pass.gumby wrote:Miss you, Anu. Had severe Ronnie Veal flashbacks last night. Enough with the Florida quarterbacks who can't throw.

There used to be a tweet by Sheer that stated RR hinted that Solomon was a bit sick today.

When Anu went back in for the wheel route, the wink coach Rod gave to him was priceless.
Re: Official Anu Solomon Appreciation Thread
Maybe its my crazy brain, but are we seeing the end of Anu at Arizona? I bet Randall starts for the next game and baring anything crazy, finishes it out. Something doesnt feel right about him and with Caylebs mom laying into him via twitter, me thinks he transfers next year.

Yes, it's your crazy brain. We are not seeing the end of the Solomon era by a long shot.uacat540 wrote:Maybe its my crazy brain, but are we seeing the end of Anu at Arizona? Re: Official Anu Solomon Appreciation Thread
I don't see it.
Has a QB ever transferred when his only competition next year comes from a true freshman? Are either of those two QBs enrolling early.

Re: Official Anu Solomon Appreciation Thread
They still have dawkins as well. I just see Anu as a good qb that keeps making poor decisions and cant make the reads. A lot of his brain farts come at moments when Arizona needs him the most. I will give him that this years o-line is craptastic and leading to some issues but some of the throws he has sail on him are ones richrod knows we need. Randall is much better with a below average o-line (who cant snap on a consistent basis) because of his running skills. Anu is a damn fine QB but maybe this system just cant fit him. The amount of skill we have on the outside with cayleb is second to none and it takes Randall to showcase that, not anu.
Re: Official Anu Solomon Appreciation Thread
After today's loss I say we keep playing anu. The season is a crap shoot and we might as well let him develop for next year.

Re: Official Anu Solomon Appreciation Thread
I 100% agree with this post. Seems like he's a serviceable QB in every aspect, but not particularly special at anything.uacat540 wrote:They still have dawkins as well. But next year is his 4th year on campus and most likely still the favorite to start. Hopefully a little more luck from injuries/schedule. I don't see why he would transfer. He'd only get to play one year wherever he goes.
Of course if the competition is breathing down his neck all next season, I could see why a grad transfer for his 5th year.

Re: Official Anu Solomon Appreciation Thread
Anu was fine today. Ran when he was supposed to run for first time in a long time.
Not his fault that the coaching staff finally realized that Bundage is not a reliable snapper at the same time they put in Randall.
I love Randall but we do need to start thinking in terms of next year, and making sure that Anu has his swagger back, because next year he is undoubtedly our best option at QB.

I do not think we are seeing the end of the Anu era, but I think he will absolutely have to compete for the job next season. He'll probably win it, but I think it seems pretty clear he has lost RR's confidence.uacat540 wrote:Maybe its my crazy brain, but are we seeing the end of Anu at Arizona? Ouch!
I have heard that Anu and RR don't see eye to eye often, not a lot of rapport.
