I fear Mazzone might keep trying to run the zone read with him despite him keeping it 3 times all year.

Last night's inexcusable loss to Nebraska in the Foster Farms Bowl has got to be a wake up call for all UCLA fans as to whether things are slowly getting worse under Jim Mora. Notice I say ALL Bruin fans, because I think there's a strong contingent that had already drawn conclusions about Mora's coaching limitations and dismissed him after his roster folded in games to Oregon, ASU, Utah, and Stanford over the past two seasons, but last night has to bring everyone together on the same page. A substandard Nebraska team that managed only five wins as member of a pretty weak B1G West division cranked out so many rushing yards (over 300) that even the eye candy sideline reporter pointed it out to Mora on TV during the game. And Mora's first reaction was to blame "the injuries!"

C'mon, AZ trademarked the excuse of "injuries" this year.

We have not beaten UCLA for one single recruit, and they finished the season with one more win than us. That's gotta sting.

I just don't see any honest way to defend UCLA's rolling over last night.

There isn't. But UCLA has struggled, all of Mora's tenure, against power offenses. We start 6'0 LB'ers, 5'8 CB's, 6' safeties, and we employ rush ends. All bad recipes

Nebraska ended with 4 wins against BCS conference teams this season (including playoff team MSU)... and ended the season with 4 wins against teams playing in bowls. they also had a couple of terrible losses, too.

Had we played Nebraska's schedule, I seriously doubt we would have done any better (although wins and losses would probably have come against different opponents). Of course we got killed by UCLA... this was a bad loss for UCLA, but Nebraska achieved more than a number of teams with better records this season.

And Nebraska was a bad call against Michigan State from being 4-8 as well. It goes both ways. Half the Big 10(12) was absolute garbage. Indiana in a bowl game? And I thought Arizona's OOC was bad until I looked them up. At least Arizona beat a solid Utah team.

UCLA consistently underperforms based on the recruits they pull.

No they weren't. They were a 5-7 level team this year. You don't get partial credit. If you're a 8-4 level team, you don't have losses to BYU, Miami, Purdue & Illinois. It's not as though they had to run the gauntlet in the Big 10. They missed OSU & Michigan on their schedule.

In this day and age of college football, if you can't win a lousy six games to become bowl eligible, you don't deserve a bowl. They beat one really good team and needed a controversial call to do that. It's pathetic they even were invited to a bowl.

Apparently it's not so obvious to some who are trying to convince themselves that Nebraska was actually a really good team but because of some Hail Mary's only managed to win 5 games. As for UCLA, they underachieve every year in football.

Think we would have been 6-6 if BYU and Miami replaced NAU and UTSA on our OOC?

Nebraska was not a great football team; had they played our schedule they would have won more games than they did. #GlassHouses

Well, I'm not sure Nebraska would've gotten past Colorado, Oregon State & Utah. At least Arizona beat the teams they should've beat. Doubt we would've lost to Purdue & Illinois.

Was Nebraska even a true power offense this year? Granted Riley might be in the misdt of a power transition, but all year they've had no offensive identity until the bowl.

4.72 yards per rush with 188 yards per game so. Not bad, but Nebraskaish.

They've had no identity but if you watched the game, that's the offense they ran and it destroyed our defense.

How about we all say NO, and agree to let you lay out your case as to how Nebraska might be the better team.

Most posters here give UCLA's season much more respect than it deserves because scoreboard-wise they beat us handily. In reality that game would have been very close had we not self-destructed with turnovers.

3 of their 5 conference wins came against P12 teams that finished 10-12 in the standings and combined for 4 conference wins. Cal was mediocre; like us, Utah was their only 'good' win.

UCLA was less likely to fall to a stinker team, and also less likely to beat a good one. I'd say pick your poison.

As an after the fact case, having watched them tally up over 300 yards, it's too easy and cheap to make.

Seriously. Without an entire decade's worth of freak, for-the-ages plays, Nebraska is at worst 7-5 or 8-4 this year. They were 5-7 but were an absolutely superior team to UCLA

It's crazy that USC played in a San Diego bowl game against a brand name BIG10 team, and they could have tarped off the entire upper deck.

College stadium upgrades at this point are just setting money on fire.

Forget bathrooms Greg, just build the practice bubble with a thousand HD cameras.

I wonder how exclusive that trend is the the PAC. It's got to be tough to get your team up for a lesser bowl when you are one game away from the Rose Bowl.
