I agree with you. Both of these teams look pretty marginal to me as far as being PAC contenders.AZCatGirl wrote:Neither team is playing like it. If they'd just pretend they're playing us we'd have a much better game I bet.Bangkok Wildcat wrote:We are looking at the two teams that will challenge us for the P12 title IMO. Can't wait to play these guys!
I would say both of them basically look like fringe top 25 teams, but that's about it. At least right now.

Stanford destroying Oregon State in the first half in Corvallis. It's like a man among boys.

Yes. I thought Stanford was going to be lucky to get an CBI invite and nOSU was going to be a potential NCAA tourney team.gumby wrote:This surprised me.Catintheheat wrote:Stanford destroying Oregon State in the first half in Corvallis. It's like a man among boys.
Re: Pac-12 game thread
They are like the Duke of the west, and it isn't for basketball reasons. All the Berkley grads I know have an elitist attitude. Like not in your face with it, but they make sure you know type of deal. A while ago I made a comment on ESPN. Someone said Cuonzo was an elite recruiter. All I said was, based on what, one class? Next thing I know I am in a back and forth with two Cal fans. They brought a knife (Miller always chokes in the elite 8) to a gunfight.Catintheheat wrote:I do not like Cal, at least this year. Their heads (the fans) are compressed and they need to be brought back down to earth.
Never had a problem with Cal until this year outside of when they had Gutierrez punk ass. Even when they beat the pants off us in McKale a few years back. Always preferred them over Stanford. And yea, part of it is them swooping in and stealing Rabb. But I became highly skeptical of everything being on the up and up after Brown goes there out of nowhere, especially considering some of the stuff that has been said about a certain family member maybe trying to cash in Brown's success a little early, and then Swanigan is all of a sudden in the mix? Definitely rooting against them.
Re: Pac-12 game thread
Cal fans quickly forgot our 3 big blowouts of them last year when they signed Rabb and Brown. But to them, having one good player return and signing those two freshmen meant they were now the kings of west coast basketball. I hope we beat them.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
i'll just go with fuck asu.

Re: Pac-12 game thread
It's hard to argue with fans of opposing programs that have accomplished absolutely nothing in recent memory yet have hired a new coach who has had some nice recruiting success (see California, ASU, etc...). Suddenly they're embolden and talk smack about how they're neck and neck with Arizona and are practically an elite program. But I've seen this movie before, with Oregon under Ernie Kent, UW under Romar, and hell, even Colorado fans were blustering after a tournament win over our worst team in 30 years.
I don't expect fans to venerate Arizona, but a little more respect would be nice. I don't talk crap to UCLA fans (other than their lukewarm attendance figures) because they're always in the picture and under Howland reached three final fours. Even with Alford they're dangerous, they've reached two Sweet 16s and are recruiting very well. Everyone else in this conference should just shut up until they've accomplished something over a decent amount of time.

Short memories, guys. David Kravish ring a bell?
I'm back on Cal's bad side after the crap he pulled with Brandon Ashley the last two years.

to be fair, most cal fans don't give enough of a shit about basketball to pay much attention until march. don't let a small, albeit irksome and vociferous, faction get under your skin.

The only undefeated team in PAC-12 play after 3 games has lost to Oakland and UCSB
Re: Pac-12 game thread
At least we can enjoy ASU losing tonight. They will probably get a win over a Bruins' team that will have a hangover from beating us.

ASU did one thing right that the Cats couldn't do. They didn't allow Alford to shoot the last shot before the first half buzzer.

It's amazing how well UCLA plays against us, opposed to the rest of their games.
Re: Pac-12 game thread
I love how early on in the game they talked about Hurley wanted to come in and show everyone that ASU wasn't going to be some bottom feeder in the conference anymore.
And ASU is dead last at 0-3.

Re: Pac-12 game thread
Season is a roller coaster. UCLA & USC are getting a lot of love right now. Last week, UCLA shyt the bed on their road trip to the Pacific Northwest.
We played 3 tough road games: won by 12, lost on a buzzer beater by 3 and in quadruple overtime. Everyone relax. We're going home now and the pendulum swings our way. I doubt we shoot TWO free throws in regulation against USC when we play at McKale. Time for some home cooking.

Man, Utah looks weak....so far, it looks like USC, Oregon and us vying for the title.....am I missing anyone else? Maybe CAL?
Re: Pac-12 game thread
With no Ennis I think Oregon is generally only a fringe top 25 type team, so generally a ranking around 20 to 30 would be appropriate. So obviously at least for myself I think it's more of an Utah problem than it is Oregon morphing into world beaters.84Cat wrote:Getting run off the court at home. The Pac road is just crazy road hard this year.
Cal just needs to hold court at home, win at least a few road games, and they'll be fine.

Sure, if their aspirations are to go 12-6 and get third in the conference. In that case they're right on track. Well almost; they have a little catching up to do.Beachcat97 wrote:The Pac road is just crazy road hard this year.
