Last night was zucchini pancakes covered with caramelized buttery sweet corn and coarsley chopped tomatoes and pine nuts.

Really lazy and not wanting to put in effort tonight. Made some basmati rice and then made some tuna salad and ate that.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.

i'll just go with fuck asu.

I can't stop laughing at that pic.

Drive in movie theater. Made some sandwiches and snuck them in. Complemented by popcorn, Reese's Pieces, and Sour Patch Kids.

Simple. 2 lbs. of ground beef, 1 packet of Lipton onion soup mix, and 1/2 cup of water. Mix in bowl, make patties to the size you want, and throw them on the grill. My oldest son ate his in about 45 seconds last night.

Made this recipe tonight. Just added sugar snap peas to it and used fresh garlic instead of garlic salt.

I buy sweet onions by the bag full at Costco, so actually use real onions, along with shredded cheese and the kids love them.

Chinese buffet. Mostly those cream cheese filled Crab Rangoon things with sauce from one of the other dishes. I can't get enough of those babies. Shame spiral bottomed out.

First time at home in ages. It's so cold, I'm making a spaghetti alla carbonara. Made with real guanciale (cured pork jowl).

Just put together a pot roast. Meat from UofA Agriculture and Life Sciences Farm (http://www.cals.arizona.edu/ans/foodsaf ... sales.html), potatoes, yellow onions, carrots, garlic, tomatoes, spices. Simple but good.

Crab Cakes

1 pound lump crab
1 egg
1/2 cup panko
1/3 cup diced celery
2 heaping tbsp minced parsley
2 heaping tbsp mayo
1.5 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp fresh minced basil
1 heaping tsp fresh minced green onion
1 tsb seasoning (cayenne, thyme, garlic) or seafood mix
Sea Salt
Cracked Pepper

Simmer in canola oil for 4-5 minutes per side at 1" thick.

Nice white wine, some zucchini or asparagus for light meal.

I've got another recipe I'll try and post in next few weeks.

These were fantastic, for a traditional flavor.

Next I think I'll do a lemon butter basil base with maybe a bit of Pinot Grigio for a boost of flavor.

No idea. Looks like a filet mignon, tastes (somewhat) like a filet mignon, it's about 1/5th the price, and looks impressive.

Note it just says "filet", which only means it is boneless. No "mignon" anywhere, just "beef" in the ingredients. So some sort of beef tenderized chemically to be tender like filet mignon is naturally. Nothing wrong with most tenderizers, vinegar and citrus tenderize great.

Sirloin is flavorful, but it occupies an unwelcome realm where it's too tender to slow-cook and too mundane to choose over rib eye, strip, tenderloin, T-bone, or porterhouse. I never understood why Spark's uses sirloin for their signature steak. I just buy the cheaper cuts and braise or stew, or I chop/grind the sirloin for burgers or tartare.

On Saturday I made a penne pasta dish with a butter/lemon/cream sauce and prosciutto/peas/asparagus. Lots of fresh parmesan too. Mmm.

How do you guys grind sirloin?

I just buy the sirloin hamburgers from Costco pre-made into patties and flash frozen. They are actually quite tasty.

Costco is so great for everything. I really should get a membership, haven't had one in years.

I freeze the sirloin and the chuck until it's semi-frozen, and then chop it up with a knife. I don't own a grinder, and wouldn't want to clean one. I hate cleaning the food processor so much, that I prefer to cut things up by hand.

yes that tenderloin on page 4 would be quite tasty as well :)

As for the sirloin, I actually get it ground from the butcher. So I don't have to do the grinding myself. Always good to have a good butcher.

A total stranger paid for our dinner out tonight celebrating my father-in-law's birthday. He told the waitress that he thought we had a cute family and he wanted to take care of it.

The food I had was forgettable. The dinner we had was the total opposite.

Had the Pub Burger and a couple of New Castles at Rosie McCaffery's Irish Pub on Camelback and 10th St while I was having the AC compressor replaced on my car. Very good burger.

The compressor, not the burger.

My son and daughter recently had the AC compressors go out on their cars, but since we live in a mild climate they decided it wasn't worth getting fixed.

My son and daughter recently had the AC compressors go out on their cars, but since we live in a mild climate they decided it wasn't worth getting fixed.
Cost me about $400. I've got a guy who used to work for me (and was also the crew chief on my dirt track stock car) when I was in the auto repair business. I bought the parts and he installed them for me.

Not dinner (not even close to it as it's only 9:15am)....but I just had a peanut butter sandwich.

Why do we forget the simple pleasures when we get older?

I don't eat this often enough, and every time I do, I think to myself "why don't you eat this more often? It's fucking delicious".

A PBJ (or PB only) is amazing. Same with a simple white-bread and butter grilled cheese. Wash either down with a soda or some fresh chocolate milk. Good to go!

Andy Warhol was known to be often in the middle of cooking a steak or something for dinner, and then abandon the process upon realizing that he really just wanted a PBJ.

Costco has Kirkland natural peanut butter quite cheap. Only ingredients are peanuts and sea salt.

When you buy a Skippy style peanut butter you also get added oils and sugar.
