2016 Pac12 Men's Basketball Tournament

Post by Dosia »

Tickets go on sale this Thursday the 17th at 10AM PT.

Who all will be attending this season? This is pretty much an annual tradition for me and azcat49 now. I haven't seen anything about the $12 tickets yet, but those are damn near impossible to get anyways.

It's been basically an annual thing for me going back to Staples. The basketball itself is fantastic; the move to Vegas has just cranked it up a few notches.

It might be good to set up a quick meet and greet even if it's just to meet at some bar for one beer (sometimes that's all the time that can be found in Vegas) for the board.

You can eliminate that "pretty much" from your description my friend.

Y'all get your tickets to the best AZ party outside a Rosebowl as can be found!

I got an email that said tickets are going on presale tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. through Ticketmaster. Says you need code PAC12MBB to order early. You can get up to 8 tickets it looks like.

I don't think they have gone on sale yet. Ticketmaster just barely put the event up a few hours ago, but no tickets available as of now. Soon

I didn't give out the link since I thought it was going to be easy to get to. But I guess they must have hidden it so nobody could get to it.

https://oss.ticketmaster.com/aps/mgmgra ... -141651853" target="_blank

The only seats they were offering were in the nosebleeds a little off center court and in the upper part of the lower section, either behind the basket or in the corners. Pretty crap seats. For two all-session tickets they wanted over $800 for those two. Didn't get any. The email I got said that this "pre-sale" is going on through the 17th.

Looks like I'll be waiting until the schools put their seats on sale and call up either WSU or OSU, or another shit team and try to get tickets through their box office.

Also, I never saw anything about the $12 a session tickets. Maybe they figured they didn't need to do it anymore due to demand?

I think they closed it and will re-open it in 20 mins. If what I saw is what they will be offering it was probably what VegasCatFan saw and they wanted $400 for nose bleed very last row seats. No thanks

The tournament is only a couple months away. Like last year, if anyone wants Friends & Family discounted hotel rates, send me a PM. Just need first and last name, number of rooms you want, and an email address you want the link to go to for the rooms. I believe they only put out X amount of rooms per hotel for this type of discount (its a large amount of rooms though), but I think last year you could still get deals pretty close to the tourney except possibly at the MGM which sold out. So, the sooner you book, I think you get a little bit better deal. Not positive though.

Also, as far as where the tourney is going to be held in 2017, I had heard conflicting things about it staying at the Grand Garden and also moving to the new arena. I was talking to a friend of mine that works at the Grand Garden and he said, at least as of meetings last week, that the tournament will move to the new arena in 2017. They want all high profile events to be held at the new place. Of course, if a VP gets a wild hair up his ass, everything could change again.

All I see are nosebleed behind the baskets even after registering for an MGM account (when i first looked, the link said they might show more seats if I signed up for an account).

Says that individual sessions will go on sale begining Feb 16.

Sec 106 row gg.

I like the way the tournament is shaping up. If the higher seeds advance we would play Colorado, Oregon, and Utah......the Payback tournament. Miller should not have any issue motivating the team.

So as of today, AZ plays at 2:30 as the 4th seed. As I understand it, Cal still has the tiebreaker because it was a series split and the next tiebreaker is their win over Oregon (they went 1-1 against em). UA can move up to the 3 seed with a Win Sat plus a Cal loss at Tempe.

We get the winner of Rado and Wash State. Im guessing it will be Colorado. Fairly tough matchup, but I do think the cats can pull it off if they can contain Josh Scott. Should be a good one.

Floor is 7 if we get rocked by CU Thursday. But most likely I'd think:

7 seed-blown out by CU
6 seed-close loss to CU
5 seed-beat CU and lose in semis, possibly still a 5 if we lose in the title game
4 seed-close title loss or close title win
3 seed-we win the tournament looking impressive the whole way and a couple other teams are upset in their tournaments

Probably on our way to a 5
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.

i'm thinking the tournament will go a little bit sideways, given what the pac has been like this year, but here are my homeresque predictions:

WED
#8 WASHINGTON vs. #9 STANFORD - 12:10pm PST (P12N) ....... uw
#5 COLORADO vs. #12 WASHINGTON STATE - 2:40pm* (P12N) ....... 'rado
#7 USC vs. #10 UCLA - 6:10pm (P12N) ....... ucla
#6 OREGON STATE vs. #11 ARIZONA STATE - 8:40pm* (P12N) ....... osu

THU
Quarterfinal, #8/9 vs. #1 OREGON - 12:10pm PST (P12N) ....... uw
Quarterfinal, #5/12 vs. #4 ARIZONA - 2:40pm* (P12N) ....... UA
Quarterfinal, #7/10 vs. #2 UTAH - 6:15 (P12N) ....... 'tah
Quarterfinal, #6/11 vs. #3 CALIFORNIA - 8:45pm* (FS1) ....... osu

FRI
Semifinal - 6:15pm PST (P12N) ....... UA
Semifinal - 8:45 pm* (FS1) ....... 'tah

SAT
Championship - 7:15pm PST (FS1) ....... UA

* anticipated tip-off time

note the P12N / FS1 split coverage

I like your optimism dirtbags. And there might be some upsets. I don't see UW beating Oregon though. Oregon and Cal are so strong. I could see USC beating Utah in the second round if I was going to pick an upset.

Just shocks me the lack of respect our league is getting with those doing the mock brackets. This league had 10 good teams. Heck, UCLA beat Kentucky like a drum. I THINK the league was the most difficult to win on the road that shows you how deep the league was. I think we had 10 teams in the top 80 or so RPI wise.

If we lose Thursday we should be no worse than a 6 seed. I think if we get to the Final we should a 4 and we we run it, a borderline 3 seed.

I think Oregon should get a 2 seed and I think Utah and Cal are in the 4-6 range as well. Hoping we keep rolling and now that Gabe has that monkey off his back he lights up Vegas bigger than the lights on the strip

Bigger question, with so many teams having good years along with the tourney being up for grabs, do we have more rival fans this year? Do they cut into our numbers?

Maybe a little, but every year this tournament will be played, the vast majority of fans will be U of A fans and it won't be close.

I'd think so. The three best basketball fan bases besides ours are Utah, Oregon and Colorado. Instead of it being 80% Arizona fans it'll probably only be like 50-60% this year

Not really. Going to be McKale North as usual.

Was at dinner last night for a friend's birthday and people I had never met before are going. Me and the usual crew are going. Believe Arizona is the only one who sold out its allotment again this year. Arizona fans are loyal and travel, gonna be tough to keep them out.

So glad to see Colorado facing us when they win, us facing Oregon on a win, and UCLA nowhere to be seen. Someone who attends this tourney tell me how many Bruins show. Honestly think UCLA fans will be out numbered in the stands by Arizona, Utah, and/or Oregon fans attending the SC/UCLA game for the spectacle of it.

Anyone have 1-3 extra tickets for Thursday or know of anyone? I will be driving into town Wednesday night. I a) don't trust the ticketing websites since they all seemed to be hard tickets that need to be mailed or picked up and b) the ticket prices+service charges+fees are insane.

On a side note this will be my first Pac-12 tournament - how easy will it be to score tickets after either the Oregon game at noon or the other teams for possibly Friday/Saturday tickets?

Utah has a good fanbase that can become extreme when they have a winner out there. Its only a 5.5 hour drive to Vegas, and everyone up there has friends and family in Vegas. If Mormons don't live in Salt Lake or Utah County, they are probably in Vegas or Mesa. Think they are pretty safely #2 behind us. Just count your lucky stars BYU isn't in the Pac 12, they'd at worst match us there.
