It feels like some people around here think that recruiting is a sequence of personal, emotionally-driven reactions.
Because people, like me, don't know the inside-the-McKale perspective.
Sorry, that came out wrong. I missed my referent and shot into a crowd.
I would say:
KS / KA
Trier
Ferguson / Smith
Smith / Lauri
Dusan / Chance
If we don't get Ferg I think we move Smith to 3 and play Lauri at 4.
Obv Rawle will get a lot of run at both wing spots.
I think the point guard and front court spots are up for grabs. I think trier is only guy who def starts and Ferguson too if he comes. Smith will start if healthy.

Are we talking Arizona? Cause when you say "our" that screams "uCla"...

With the new rules, logic said he would declare, not sign with an agent, attend the camps to see how well he fares, then return to the UA with no penalty.
After his most recent trip to Arizona, Ferguson is hoping to lock in on a decision after he finishes in Portland. The Wildcats along with Baylor and Kansas are out ahead of the pack but he's got his eyes on some others and one school in particular is trying to get him out for a visit before he decides.
“I’ve already taken unofficial visits to Kansas and Baylor so I probably don’t need to visit them. But North Carolina has really been trying to get in the mix and hitting me hard this last week so I am considering a visit to them and I've put them in my final six. I've also got Maryland who I visited unofficially and N.C. State too."
Me thinks he is just milking this thing and enjoying the hell out of it while it lasts. If I already knew where i was going and UNC wanted to host me, Id go in a heartbeat.
With late April as his personal decision deadline, Ferguson wants to first visit N.C. State and North Carolina before making a college decision.
So what will be important to Ferguson as he goes through this second recruiting cycle?
"Just trust," answered Ferguson. "I mean my mom is big on trust and It's like a family base. It's not that they just want you to be good at basketball. They want to make you better and want to have a relationship with you. Location isn't that big for me. Playing style - I definitely want to run and gun."
Ferguson had positive things to say about his recent official visit to Arizona.
"I actually had a great visit at Arizona," he said. "I got to spend a lot of time with the players. I'm glad all of them were there. I spent time with Coach Miller off the court. It was good to see him relax and not sweat through his shirt."
Ferguson also commented on the impact to his recruitment of Allonzo Trier returning to Arizona.
"It doesn't (impact it) at all," he told 247Sports. "I played with Allonzo Trier on the 19 under team with Coach Miller, and we had a ton of guards on that team."
I can't imagine thus thing playing out till the end of the month us good for us

Better to have the "chemistry" issue now rather than next season...
... let it go.

So I guess he hasn't made his mind up yet? Doesn't mean Arizona is not in the mix. The kid's having some fun, taking his time. I'm still betting on Miller.
'A parent is the one person who is supposed to make their kid think they can do anything. Says they're beautiful even when they're ugly. Thinks they're smart even when they go to Arizona State.' -- Jack Donaghy
Recruiting update: Terrance Ferguson tells Espn that #UNC HC Roy Williams has offered him a scholarship & he plans to visit next week.
Welp if accurate that's probably all she wrote for us. Can't feel good about a kid supposedly leaning towards us, taking his time, and then visiting another basketball power before his announcement. Like I said though this kid is notorious for bullshitting the media, so who knows?
UNC is UNC, but it's quite possible some kids prefer the vibe at UofA. Our coach is also about 20 years younger. It'd be one thing if TF were from NC or another state nearby, but I believe he's from TX. We may not get him, but I don't think we now have the distinct disadvantage that others are sensing.
Doesn't really seem all that funny to me but I'm not an 18 year kid either.
“I tricked one coach and that was a coach at Baylor. Baylor called and I was like coach, 'April Fools joke.' I got (assistant) coach Tang bad. Even (assistant) coach Mills texted me that I got coach Tang bad and they were laughing."
Reads like Baylor and KU are out:

He needs to pull his pants up and get off my lawn, then pick a college immediately.
In all seriousness, college basketball recruiting is as bad a process as it gets for creating a quasi well adjusted young man. You have waves of sycophants, grown men kissing your butt 24/7, people looking to score money off you down the road, groupies, shoe companies and AAU. It's a miracle if any recruit has any vague sense of reality.
rgdeuce wrote:Apparently UNC offered T Ferg last July. So..... I wouldn't sweat this like a school he wanted his entire life is just now showing him some love.
I doubt there are any schools in America that wouldn't jump at the chance to land Ferguson, and not too many that would not show tons of interest if they thought they any chance. I doubt anyone is really just getting in the TFerg game at this point.

USC football is the obvious one, but remember when the UA lost a scholie for 2 years due to some Lute Olson stamped signature on some Jim Story Cactus Classic fund raising letter?
SMU got a one-year ban for academic fraud involving just one player. This stuff has been going on for 18 years? Multiple sports programs? NCAA is already to the point now where they are teetering over the edge. While I do not know the alternative, you got to figure they are one, maybe two big programs being let off from a huge explosion. The lack of accountability and self-imposed sanctions.. eh. I mean, who are we fooling, we all know the way this story is going to end. Part of me still has a glimmer of hope, not that the NCAA does the right thing (we all know who they are), but they feel like they are forced to do the right thing and even do 1/2 or 3/4 of the right thing. The thing though, is this involves at least three sports programs, so they can deliver a "harsh" penalty (across the board f*ckery for the whole athletic department) rather than multiple years focused on 1, 2, or 3 sports.
To paraphrase Tark, the NCAA is probably mad enough at UNC to drop the death penalty on SMU again.
The NCAA is getting seriously angry about UNC's academic fraud.
