Sounds like he will announce any day now.billk78 wrote:That's a pretty shot. Man would it be nice to have a big time deep threat. This UNC thing has me worried but I do still think we get him.
When is he supposed to announce?
And Ray or Lauri... Alkins and Kobi gonna sleepwalk to the basket.PennZona20 wrote:Can u imagine him and Trier on the wings for this team next year ???
There will be lots of driving lanes for everybody. This offense could be really fun to watch.
He'd start for Arizona by Nov/ Dec.Beachcat97 wrote:Would TF even start at UNC?
The last few weeks? He was in the NCAA tournament the last few weeks where recruiting isn't even a focus. Where did you get that quote from HiCat?HiCat wrote:Williams has really gone hard at Ferguson over the last few weeks, trying to add him to the recruiting class.

It would be too cool if he committed to Arizona this morning.ChooChooCat wrote:Ahhh just some fanboys.HiCat wrote:ChooChooCat wrote:The last few weeks? Let's see if he even makes it out to North Carolina next week.
Thanks! Allen and Trier breaking down defenses and dishing to Terrance ... not to mention Chance and Ray crashing the weak side for a rebound. This will be an incredibly athletic team. Bring in some of that Eastern nastiness and this group might surprise in a good way! LM is the sleeper.Dosia wrote:Prob Wed on signing day

Moved to Arch Rivals as it should be.TheGreatCatsby wrote:What happened to the JJ thread????
The last I saw was 85% Arizona and 0% UNC. So essentially 7% jumped from us to Carolina.HiCat wrote:not sure of date re TF's recruitment

Like Lute used to say, it's not who starts...Beachcat97 wrote:So if we get some good news from TF soon, how would our starting lineup look?
KS
TF
RS
LM
DR/CC
Where does RA fit? This is a very young but very loaded lineup. Will be interesting to see how quickly they can mesh and win some big games.
Some how you managed to leave out the only for sure starter next year, Bravo!Beachcat97 wrote:So if we get some good news from TF soon, how would our starting lineup look?

I'm assuming Smith will have to move laterally at some point. It's really hard to only move in straight lines in basketball.NYCat wrote:Kobi Simmons

I don't trust Smith or want him moving laterally coming off two major surgeries. Ferguson fits the more immediate need, sharpshooter to give spacing and open up driving lanes. Plus length to defend the perimeter. Trier is Trier and the best player coming back, Kobi is the best ball handler and point on the roster.
You're underrating Markannen. He is going to be very good for us next year.NYCat wrote:You play the best players, Ray Smith > Markkanen. Doesn't matter that he's not a true 4. Ferguson isn't a SF either, but he can play as a third guard. Villanova just won with 3 guards. Derrick Williams wasn't a C either but he played it with Horne in the 4. Kyryl was a true C in that roster, and of course he didn't play over those guys.
Ray Smith playing on the wings doesn't sound good, if he has to defend guys like Ferguson/third guard more athletics SFs; will he be able to hold/keep up. Ferguson is coming here to start, and he's not playing over Trier and he's not a Pg.
Besides it would suck if Miller chose to play players just because they fit the traditional pg, SG, sf, pf, & c positions. Also if he chooses to play upperclassmen just because they're upperclassmen, PJC & Allen. Same with Dusan.
You put your best players on the floor. Adjust to your personnel. Adjust to your surroundings and conditions.
A couple things here, who is a consensus one and done? Lauri? Thats seems odd that he would be a consensus one and done when he was the 24th rated recruit, but I don't follow draft blogs. Additionally Ray Smith will have had a full year under the Strength and Training program at Arizona, that is a huge benefit for him. Finally Ray Smith is 6'8" 220, there will be more minutes for him at the 4 (barring a grad transfer) and IMO he would thrive there. Especially playing the stretch 4 which Miller loves.Spaceman Spiff wrote:You're underrating Markannen. Simultaneously, Ray isn't going to be able to play his natural position, but he will beat out a consensus one and done first round pick? I do not get that logic. Ray Smith is considered a pro prospect at the 3, but he can't play it in college?
I don't understand it at all.
If he does play to the level of a high one and done good, but you never know. Hopefully he does because we have no depth for him besides Smith. Hopefully he can handle all the minutes.Spaceman Spiff wrote:DX has Lauri as a #23 pick in 2017 and that's an older projection that does not deal with his recent physical development. We're all projecting, but I'm very sold on Markannen being our guy from day 1. I get that Ray could slide up, but I don't see that as option 1 when you have Lauri. Lauri is no Euro project.
Edit: Gronk, yeah, the buzz on Lauri is we have him for one year. Draft analysts have him in high regard.
