Connolly is a 6-5, 280, redshirt Freshman defensive lineman from Campo Verde HS, Gilbert, AZ. One of the top in-state recruits of his class, Connolly was a PrepStar All-West Region and DII all-state selection as well as the MVP of the Youth Combine Event in Scottsdale. He had 90 tackles as a Senior with 7 for a loss and 5 sacks.
We are wide open on what is going to happen with the defense, so Connolly will be another player out to prove himself and earn playing time. Scouting reports gave him credit for being quick off the snap with a good swim move to shed blockers, but also knocked him for inconsistent pad level and sometimes losing leverage. He’s a true blue-collar, hard-working guy that we really feel has a lot of room for growth.
