The Las Vegas Raiders
What do you think?
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?
Re: The Las Vegas Raiders
It's definitely a possibility. Would be kinda weird and I'm not sure how often or long LV would support a pro team. LV would be one of the smallest and most transient markets in the NFL.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
i'll just go with fuck asu.

Re: The Las Vegas Raiders
I have been a Raiders fan since '79/'80 when they hired Tom Flores(first latino coach) and moved to LA. I could really care less where they are based on now; San Diego, LA, Oakland..who cares. Their brand transcends locale. Moving to LV would make it that much easier to catch a game. It would also make the live experience uber unique in the NFL. Imagine staying in a nice Casino/Resort, have a late b-fast at the buffet, hit the pool for a couple of hours to check out the scenery and drink some frosty beverages, lay down some $$ at the sports book for the Raiders to cover, and then take a cab or walk to the game. Who knows, there might be table games at the stadium...awesome. I love hitting Vegas for the P12 tourney and the LV Bowl when AZ goes there. It might start getting a little old as I age but I think I have 5-10 more years where that experience would rock. I still love the Cardinals as my NFC, hometown team after they moved into the UofP stadium(could never watch them a Scum Devil Stadium) but the Raiders are my AFC team. And would this put Vegas as part of the Superbowl rotation???...E.P.I.C. Just Win, Baby!

Re: The Las Vegas Raiders
So if I understand correctly, the money will come from occupancy taxes at the strip hotels, and no public tax money? Soak the visitors.
How can UNLV not jump in at that?
That has got to help recruiting at no cost to the school.

Re: The Las Vegas Raiders
Great. The resort fees are going to probably double to around $60 a night to subsidize the Raiders.
I can't be the only person NOT excited about this. I mean, sure, Las Vegas and the Al Davises deserve each other, but that's not cause for celebration.

Re: The Las Vegas Raiders
LOVE IT.
Raider fans from all over the world would come to LV to watch the games. Huge boon for the Casinos. Puts Vegas on the map for all the premier stadium events...Final Four, Superbowl, Soccer, Concerts, College Football...OMG....the Spirit of Al Davis rises to haunt our sports dreams.
On another note, can we just go ahead and legalize sports gambling?...I mean..pot is gonna be legalized soon...I can go out, buy pot, get stoned...but I can't put $50 on the Raiders to cover...our priorities are effing wack in this country.

Re: The Las Vegas Raiders
"The greatness of the Raiders is in its future."
Yeah, because it's so rarely been in its present.
And Sheldon Adelson? Yuck. Even easier to root against them now.

Re: The Las Vegas Raiders
wait, what? why would raiders play in tucson?
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:
Re: The Las Vegas Raiders
They're in a dispute with Oakland about their lease for their final season there. At this point they could play in Oakland or Phoenix or San Francisco or Tucson or Los Angeles or San Diego for 1 season.PieceOfMeat wrote:wait, what? why would raiders play in tucson?

Re: The Las Vegas Raiders
Just heard on the local news here in central coastal Cali that the Raiders may split the games between Tucson and Birmingham Alabama!
Re: The Las Vegas Raiders
Zero chance, but it is fun to see snooty California people freak out.

You read like comments I see every day about Californians!
Why so much hate for Cali?
Re: The Las Vegas Raiders
They get all prissy and superiority complexy over places like Tucson (people on this board included).Merkin wrote:ASUHATER! wrote:Zero chance, but it is fun to see snooty California people freak out.

The last thing I read was it was just about a done deal for SF Giants stadium.

Steelers fans are going to have to admit that Tomlin did a masterful job handling this guy.

Think that tweet was taken down because it’s not Bruce Campbell. But here is the fight:
