Arizona's Allonzo Trier will be a national name by March
The Arizona staff is convinced Trier will be the Pac-12 Player of the Year. He averaged nearly 15 points a game last season. With the top two scorers gone, Trier will have plenty of touches to stuff the stat sheet every game.

I have heard similar.Zero wrote:That was the rumor yesterday. Saw on Twitter and had a friend text me about it. I didn't think too much of it until reading on the Reddit College board a suspension could be coming today.
I have NO idea if this happens. I just really hope it does not.

I think this might belong in the '17 thread, but he would be a nice add for a 3-4 year player. He's the sort of kid who, if he sticks it out, will be really good as a junior/senior.Main Event wrote:

Yeah. BR looks like a very solid 3-4 year player. Could give us nice stability/depth at the 2 spot over the next few years.

Re: 2016-2017 Arizona Basketball
So we've lost our starting 2, 3, and backup 4.
Feel terrible for Ray. Not sure if it's just bad luck or if he's just unusually injury-proned.

I get trying to get Smith minutes to knock rust off but you can't have him in there after two injury scares.

If it was going to go, it was going to go. Wouldn't have made a difference if it was now, chico st, Mich st, or later in the season.PHXCATS wrote:I get trying to get Smith minutes to knock rust off but you can't have him in there after two injury scares.

So we are technically down 5 scholarship players with Trier, Chance, Ray Smith talbort Denny and Terrence Ferguson

Re: 2016-2017 Arizona Basketball
Looked at in this way, it's really a lost season in some ways. But with our freshmen trio + DR and PJC, there's still hope to finish in the top half of the Pac. If Trier and CC don't play a single game this year, it's hard to imagine us reaching the tournament with so little depth.3goggles wrote:So we are technically down 5 scholarship players with Trier, Chance, Ray Smith talbort Denny and Terrence Ferguson

We are so screwed. Its one thing it we came with with a transition season in mind, but this was supposed to the THE year for a run and now we're left looking at this hot mess.
Some serious bad clouds over the AD and programs right now.

Me too Main Event! God, that is really sad.....but this crap happens when you see these young men play as hard as they do....shitty part of the game we love.Main Event wrote:Couldn't tell you a single thing that happened after he went down. Mentally checked out
What really pisses me off is the unforced errors (assumptions included) of Trier and Comanche that have let their teammates down so much. Injuries happen but stupid / immature decisions that cause suspensions are what really makes me angry.
Having said that, I did a lot of dumbass things while at the U of A BUT I was also paying my own way and working for a lot of the time too.
Damn....time to lower expectations and just enjoy the high points of the season. BTFD.
