Re: Kadeem Allen
And midway through the second half Wednesday, guard Kadeem Allen went down with a non-contact right leg injury. Sean Miller said after the game that it was a sprained ankle, but it'll be interesting to see how long this keeps him out.
Obviously, Arizona can ill afford yet another injury. Miller noted after the game that in his 12 years of coaching he has never dealt with as many injuries as he has this season, and it's true. This is a snakebitten team right now in that regard. Luckily for Arizona, its depth of talent makes the Wildcats more well-equipped than others to deal with injuries. But no team can reach its potential with injuries to three starters and a solid role player.

Miller says that he can't provide a timetable on Kadeem Allen's return
Not feeling too good about watching Kadeem helped off the court. Looked bad

Justin Simon, it's your time to shine.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Well I suppose if you know you're going to have a million ankle injuries then not redshirting anyone is a no brainer. What a strange year so far. With our luck I was fully expecting Allen to need his foot amputated or something.
If it's just a typical ankle roll then it shouldn't be more than 2 weeks, but with our luck....

From the way it looked on TV in slo-mo, wouldn't surprise me if he stretched some ligaments.

Re: Kadeem Allen
Where is CST? Can we get a doc to chime in? Hoya?
Hopefully it's not a high ankle sprain, which is much more serious. Looked really bad on TV.

Re: Kadeem Allen
I actually reacted better after the replay. He didn't roll it landing, and the amount of force is much less when you aren't landing from a jump.Chicat wrote:From the way it looked on TV in slo-mo, wouldn't surprise me if he stretched some ligaments.
Re: Kadeem Allen
Thats what I thought, saw it live without replay, so this is based on his reaction after and how he just layed there. And then went straight to the tunnel. My guess is a complete ligament tear, I hope I am wrong.Chicat wrote:From the way it looked on TV in slo-mo, wouldn't surprise me if he stretched some ligaments.

Oh man that is as Good of news as we could have expected. I thought he was done for the year.
Would love for him to be back by UNLV or ASSU at the latest

Re: Kadeem Allen
With the way he reacted to the injury and how it looked on the replay, man I was expecting the worst.
We need KA back and we need more of what he can do when he's on the court. Kid's got game. He could be doing a lot more than he has been.

Re: Kadeem Allen
It's time to box up all of our guys shoes and ship them back to NIKE. Then get on the horn and tell our rep that we want some shoes that don't bust our ankles. Something funky is going on!

Re: Kadeem Allen
I have noticed our shoe game is extremely weak this year. We used to have guys with beautiful Js and Nikes. This year, all of our guys are wearing some big bulky generic Nike garbage.
Re: Kadeem Allen
Trier's shoe game tops pretty much anyone who has played here in the Miller era

Nick Johnson had a sick collection. Lots of retro Jordans.rgdeuce wrote:Trier's shoe game tops pretty much anyone who has played here in the Miller era
Re: Kadeem Allen
Good news re KA tonight.
Re: Kadeem Allen
That is who I have second. Trier gets the edge because of some of the limited releases and unique pairs he has worn. Anyone can throw on a pair of retro Js and call it a day. He really puts a lot of thought in pairing his kicks w whatever unis we are wearing that night. Most guys rock cool grey 11s w anything, but he will only rock a cool or wolf grey colorway when we are wearing our grey alternate unis. He's worn some other eye poppers, hard to find pics of all in google image. Honestly, he probably has the nicest shoe game of any wildcat, though that isnt fair to someone like Mike Bibby because things werent the same back then w shoes as they are now. In terms of current times, im not sure ive seen someone in the college game in recent memory that can hang w himbillk78 wrote:Nick Johnson had a sick collection. Re: Kadeem Allen
Hope Kadeem hits some nice shots tonight. Love to see him and PJC get 10-15 each. Knock down those 3's a la Gabe York's percentages.

Re: Kadeem Allen
Is rapidly improving as a serviceable point guard for us. Athletic, and he really hasn't even begun to look for his shot yet, which I think he has the ability to do. When the sh*t show was on at the end of the last Boise St. game, he showed he can drive and take the shot if need be. Nice little game tonight and hoping we see continual development during PAC 12 season.
Re: Kadeem Allen
Yeah, really liked Allen in that NAU game. Looking ahead, his matchup with Tra Holder is going to be important.
Right where I want to be.

Re: Kadeem Allen
DISAGREE! I'm tired of saying this, so I promise this is my last time. Potential red-shirts can be sitting on the bench dressed, and go into the game immediately when a player goes down. A player is not a red-shirt until all games have been played, and he did not sniff the court during actual games. Until then he is a red-shirt candidate and is eligible to enter the game the same as the star logging 36 mpg.ChooChooCat wrote:Well I suppose if you know you're going to have a million ankle injuries then not redshirting anyone is a no brainer.
IMHO, it is more valuable to have a 5th year senior than to give a skinny freshman garbage time in blowouts.
Re: Kadeem Allen
Can this guy get a little love or what? What a surprise he has been he seems to have a knack for making huge plays at the most critical times
- spearheaded late game comeback vs UCLA almost singlehandedly
- unreal steal and layup down 2 at Cal last minute
- guy can flat out score and rarely takes a head-scratching shot
- comes out of nowhere to block shots - jaw dropping
- calm cool collected like a Mike Dickerson - no chest thumping sky pointing 3-goggles (*not that there's anything wrong with that)
LOVE what he's brought to the team!

Re: Kadeem Allen
This is one of few areas that we agree. I would never have thought Kadeem would establish himself as our PG as strongly as he has. He is no TJ, but who is. He is a solid starter we can build on as a rock for the next two years.RiseAndFire wrote:Can this guy get a little love or what? Sometimes you hear people throw out the phrases "____ is just a great basketball player" or "just a great baseball player." That's what Kadeem is to me. Love Kadeem
Re: Kadeem Allen
He's been even greater than the off-season hype. He just needs more help. Too much of a dropoff running the O when he has to exit a game.

Re: Kadeem Allen
Damn, Kadeem is 'Kevin Parrom' TOUGH!!! What a badass.....seriously, he always seems to be taking hard falls, hits, charges, etc but keeps getting back up and paying.
Love his toughness and determination....so glad we have him next year too. Bear Down Kadeem.
P.S. This thread needs more love

Love those block shots. Great defense!
Re: Kadeem Allen
He elevates so quickly. Seems a little gun-shy, though, which leads to overpassing in the lane.
Right where I want to be.

Re: Kadeem Allen
I thought he was gonna seriously injure himself out there with how often he ended up hard on the floor. Glad to see the toughness.

Re: Kadeem Allen
He just has to get better with those entry passes and cut down on those "what were you thinking" passes that were never open to begin with. Tough adjustment for the kid, but they can be maddening.

I said 2 years ago - as I am the only one here that follows JUCO...that even though Kadeem led the nation in scoring, he was considered a defensive player first.
Pinder is a pleasant surprise to me.

Re: Kadeem Allen
Starting to wonder if KA's total impact this year will outweight GY's last year. What KA brings on defense, and his poise under pressure...these are invaluable, as CSM noted after the MSU game.
And yeah, Pinder does what he does. He's got a good motor, crashes the boards, has quick hands on D...just need him to give us good minutes. And if Ristic doesn't start hitting the shots he's supposed to, Pinder's minutes could increase.

Congrats to him. The greatest blessing in life.
Re: Kadeem Allen
Don't look now, but Kadeem is on fire. Shooting 51.4 from three. Made his last 7. Better from three than overall (44).
If you round up (9.5), all five starters averaging double digits. And, of course, he's the best defender.

I noticed he was hot when I looked at his 3pfg% a few days back. Jumped big time. Love Kadeem.
Re: Kadeem Allen
Still playing D (someone has to) while putting up 18 points, eight assists, four steals and four rebounds.
The others better follow his lead on that LA trip. Defense matters.
