I really hated Todd Heap.

I love that 2014 replay, but now I look at how fast and hard we have fallen and I am disappointed.
Re: Dual In The Desert discussion thread
I haven't decided whether I'll attend the game tomorrow. (Should I?) It'll be an eleventh hour decision. I had a lot of fun at the season opener against BYU, but now like everybody else I just want to forget the whole season and going to the game won't help, and will probably make it worse.

I wish I could go to the game... live in ATL so can't. So, go for me?
The game is (almost) always close.
Also, if we win we keep them from being bowl eligible, right?

If Arizona beats Santa Clara tonight, then tomorrow's game will be playing at the same time as the football game. Mmm...decisions decsisions.

I'll watch football till the Bball game starts, then flip over an check the score occasionally. Of course, by the time the BBall time starts, the football game will probably be over anyhow.Merkin wrote:Same with RichRod. Just a complete disaster.
Did they not vet Yates at all? No way he can keep his mind on football 60 hours a week like he is paid for.
I'll watch the game, well at least until the Scummies put Arizona away (by half?), but this is a season I will try and forget.
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:

That timing works out really well. Watch the football game until the UA players get gassed, so game over by halftime.PieceOfMeat wrote:I'll watch football till the Bball game starts, then flip over an check the score occasionally. Tonight finished the opposite of what I thought. It was a blowout. Wow. More importantly, I won't have to watch a crappy bowl with that team in it. And omg, running it, wow.

I will take 3-9 with win over ASU rather than making some bullshit bowl and ASU loss. I'm sorry if that makes me a "bad" and short sighted fan.
Re: Dual In The Desert discussion thread
That was a straight up beatdown. Never trailed. Guys had huge holes to run through all night long and they didn't miss. Tagaloa threw a nice block that gave Dawkins the chance to throw that TD to Phillips. Defense had an attitude tonight, gang tackling ASU's runners. They forced ASU to sustain drives to score, making them eat clock.

Re: Dual In The Desert discussion thread

i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.

On the old board, during one of our "amazing" 6-7 win seasons, and loss to ASU, I said something similar about how'd I rather beat ASU than go to sub-mediocre bowl. Not me, I hate those crappy money losing bowls. Good for the players I guess, but playing a crappy team in a crappy stadium doesn't really appeal to me, although I do watch them.1stNGrant Frys wrote:On the old board, during one of our "amazing" 6-7 win seasons, and loss to ASU, I said something similar about how'd I rather beat ASU than go to sub-mediocre bowl. Re: Dual In The Desert discussion thread
Most bowls lose money. Some teams don't go, since they can't afford to lose that much.1stNGrant Frys wrote: I thought we still got money from even the worst bowl. Its the venue that loses money?
The PAC has a money sharing agreement, where the money is split after expenses. That's what subsidizes the lower PAC teams going to the smaller bowls thanks to the better teams going to money making bowls.
Payouts for typical UA bowls.
Bowl Payout Per Team
Las Vegas $1 M
Meineke $1 M
Emerald $0.85 M
New Mexico $0.75 M

Whoever guessed Arizona would lead the PAC-12 in rushing this year with its top 3 running backs out step up and get your prize:
Re: Dual In The Desert discussion thread
Imagine those rushing numbers if Wilson and/or Taylor had been healthy all year. Or if Grant had gotten the nod to fill in earlier instead of Johnson.

Re: Dual In The Desert discussion thread
Where did UA end up on passing? Last?
Kind of related, me thinks.
With Anu being injured, and losing his confidence, he was the only chance the UA had to make noise in the passing department.
Don't think Dawkins and Tate can even hit the nets in practice.

I don't get this type of chest-thumping. Of course a few of us were way wrong (myself included) but after going 0-8 in the pac12, can you really blame/fault those of us who expected us to lose against ASsU? That season was a dumpster fire and that doesn't change even with the nice win to end the season.UALoco wrote:What a game! A few of you were WAY wrong. So fun to read this and the ASU thread. Yes, I can blame you. The Rivalry game is a game where anything can happen. I don't live under a rock, I know this team sucks swamp water. I expected us to lose as well but held out hope and it paid off. I don't think I was thumping my chest...just pointing out how good it felt for us(especially the seniors) to get the win when all odds were against us. BearDown and don't be so sensitive.PieceOfMeat wrote:I don't get this type of chest-thumping. P.s., "anything can happen" is true for any game, in any sport, at any time. Upsets happen/exist. Also, if you "expected us to lose" then you weren't holding out hope any more than any other fan who predicted a loss but hoped for the best.
p.p.s. it's definitely chest thumping if you come in and point and laugh as if you were superior to everyone else who rationally predicted a loss.
::::
p.p.p.s your statement of "yes I can blame you" is in condradiction with your statement that you "expected us to lose as well". If you blame others for expecting the loss that you also expected, then why aren't you blaming yourself?
