Re: Texas Recruiting
Yes they should. Question is why doesn't the current staff develop recruiting connections there? Seems a fertile ground and regionally it certainly makes sense.
Re: Texas Recruiting
Because RR and staff has no ties to the state texas.BearDown89 wrote:Yes they should. Question is why doesn't the current staff develop recruiting connections there? Seems a fertile ground and regionally it certainly makes sense.

Re: Texas Recruiting
Yates was co-DC at Texas A&M in 2012 and 2013. He recruited Texas during that stint. http://247sports.com/Coach/Marcel-Yates ... meRecruits" target="_blank There are 7 Texas commits on that list. Don't know anything about those Texas high schools, but it's a start. I don't suppose there are any leftover Texas connections from the Stoops era to be re-kindled.cordera89 wrote:Because RR and staff has no ties to the state texas.BearDown89 wrote:Yes they should. Re: Texas Recruiting
They've been able to build a bit of a Louisiana pipeline. With Yates' help they might have some success expanding into Texas.

Re: Texas Recruiting
Marcel's real connection is LA where he grew up. He and Donte were brought in to mine California.
Re: Texas Recruiting
I wonder if he yates can put that into work in the 2018 and 2019 recruiting cycle.azpenguin wrote:They've been able to build a bit of a Louisiana pipeline. With Yates' help they might have some success expanding into Texas.
Re: Texas Recruiting
Yeah that true but their just one freaky problem. How many recruiting classes do we need to get back on track.wyo-cat wrote:Marcel's real connection is LA where he grew up. He and Donte were brought in to mine California.
Re: Texas Recruiting
Hate to say it but we are going to need a good JC class.
Re: Texas Recruiting
RR has been able to bring in several decent JC but a lot them weren't really impact players.azgreg wrote:Hate to say it but we are going to need a good JC class.
Re: Texas Recruiting
If he wants to coach at AZ in 2018 that will need to change.cordera89 wrote:RR has been able to bring in several decent JC but a lot them weren't really impact players.azgreg wrote:Hate to say it but we are going to need a good JC class.
Re: Texas Recruiting
I disagree with that statement. He be the coach in 17 and 18 season if Byrnes doesn't come out with unrealistic expectation for the football program after a 3-9 season. Either next season we finish with yet another good Recruiting Class but fall too 5-7 or 6-6, Everyone else is already predicting that it going to follow like Mike Stoop final year. Byrnes has to understand that Arizona isn't a program that can just turnaround a bad season to good season at ease. 18 season is where it going to end with RR.azgreg wrote:If he wants to coach at AZ in 2018 that will need to change.cordera89 wrote:RR has been able to bring in several decent JC but a lot them weren't really impact players.azgreg wrote:Hate to say it but we are going to need a good JC class.

Re: Texas Recruiting
Arizona doesn't have enough in state talent that we have an excuse for not trying to recruit any state. There are schools (Floridas, TX, CA and LA) that can survive on local talent. Arizona is not that program. We need tentacles everywhere to offset the in state disadvantages.BearDown89 wrote:Yes they should. Re: Texas Recruiting
Hell no to Texas. Arizona can't even recruit Arizona or California successfully now.
Re: Texas Recruiting
Chief the majority of our player are from the state of California. Arizona primary recruiting ground is the state of California. Where in it history that Arizona has Recruiting very, very, very, very, very elite well in the state of Arizona and California. Did stoop had good run of recruiting texas kids to Arizona?chiefzona wrote:Hell no to Texas. Arizona can't even recruit Arizona or California successfully now.

RR and the staff are hitting TX pretty straight forward. 8 prospects from the state of TX.
• Miles Battle: Cypress Creek HS (Houston, TX)/WR/6-foot-4/182 pounds/3*
• Braeden Daniels: Hebron HS (Carrollton, TX)/OG/6-foot-4/275 pounds/3*
• Chasen Hines: Marshall HS (Marshall, TX)/C/6-foot-3/340 pounds/4*
• Tayland Humphrey: Klein Oak HS (Spring, TX)/DT/6-foot-6/365 pounds/0*/Hutch CC
• Starrland Baldwin Jr: Cypress Falls HS (Houston, TX)/CB/5-foot-10/160 pounds/3*
• D’Shawn Jamison: Lamar HS (Houston, TX)/CB/5-foot-10/173 pounds/4*
• Christian Young: Foster HS (Richmond, TX)/CB/6-foot-1/191 pounds/0*
• Taye Barber: Cypress Springs HS (Cypress, TX)/ATH/5-foot-10/175 pounds/3*
It probably too little too late but it a start.
