Sleepwalking.

Back in the day of 4 year players, this pre-break/finals game was murder. This year? Maybe we have some student-athletes?

Lauri 3-10 FGs, and 1-4 FTs???? That's not a good sign.

Different game, different situation, different motivations.

College teams fall asleep occasionally. This is a 17 point line. We might not cover. But we survive this quietly awful game from Lauri and move on. Right now, I am bringing Rawle in with Kobi and looking for the sizzle to wake the arena and team up.

This is the 2nd biggest issue beyond the actually missing the lost players...the inability to bench players for coasting.

Aggie fan will be a distant fan in Houston. Our game is the opening act for Texas v Arkansas. Some TAMU fans will make the trip, but they will deal with Texas fans who have lost whatever "Texas Forever" sentiment they may have had with Aggy going to the SEC. Whatever Arkansas fan is there will be pretty neutral, then we seem to pull no matter where we go, especially in the southwest.

I'd expect a 2/3rds full arena at half for our game, a 70/30 crowd growing more in our favor as Texas fan arrives.

Markkanen looks befuddled. All that early cool is gone...short arming shots, ridiculous pace on the pass to Ristic. Needs to see the game for a bit.

^Exactly, Houston is at most an hour and half from College Station, it's crawling with Aggies - it's a home game for them.

With that said, live in Houston, a Wildcat and an Aggie, tickets are outrageous for the game and it's looking like the Toyota Center is having difficulty moving tickets.

The TAMU fans I know are all very confident, especially after their UCLA matchup. Think we look worse than USCw and Va Tech which they lost close games to. Can't blame them if their sample size has been Butler + Gonzaga + this ESPNU game.

Circumstances are different, but they are in a similar spot to us. Their 2 is their best ball handler (Gilder), decent on the wings (Gilder and Hogg), strong in the front court (Williams, Trocha, and of course Davis). Lauri stays out of foul trouble and we should be alright.

Awful game. Worst game Lauri has played...everything was a step slow, the shot short, the rotation slow, the post passing without touch (fired a zero angle pass at Ristic off fingers). As bad as he can get...and it was still OK.

We lost PJC, then Kadeem became indispensable. Not surprising we fell off some when faced with the true freshman combo guard at point. Surprising it was a 9-0 run with 6 TOs in 10 possessions, taking a 16 point laugher on pace for a 30-40 point win to 7 at half. Thought we were playing bad before the run, but we were building a 16 point lead.

Bad game. Shake it iff. Don't over-analyze its larger meaning because there is none. Well, one thing learned...until PJC comes back (friend saw him on campus without boot), we need KaDeem in the game and not foul trouble. Lauri picked a good game to stink it up...the power of GCU beyond their low major fun story is overstated. And they aren't as good as last year.

At the end of this day...literally...we played an awful game the Lute Olson teams would be proud of pre-break, win by 19, and hopefully, after TAMU, we get some Christmas presents in Trier and shortly after PJC

Not a lot to get from this one. Don't over react, just recognize we are super thin and need KA on the court. Oh, and Rawle Alkins is pretty special. Erase the tape. Head to H Town.

to be expected at a school like gcu where literally 80%+ of the student body attends online, i suppose. they also have a sizeable satellite campus in tucson, so many of the purples at McK last night could have been locals / near-locals. still kind of weird to see, though.
