Amey is entering his second year as a college coach after spending 1 year as a Wildcat football analyst and the 3 previous years on the strength and conditioning staff. His last on-field coaching experience was as the defensive line coach for Chaparral HS, Phoenix, in 2012.
Amey played college football at a former teacher's college in Tempe, AZ, from 1994-1997 playing in 2 PAC 10 Championship teams, 1 Rose Bowl, and was an All-PAC 10 honorable mention as a Senior. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders and played in the NFL (1 year), NFL Europe (2 years), and the Arena Football League (8 years).
No longer a rookie coach, Amey will have his work cut out for him this year trying to put together a defensive line that still lacks size.
