Love the playcalling. Pound the ball. Rest the defense. Take the air out of the game. Go into the half with a score and a rested D.

Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
Tilford cant get any run?
Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
I was thinking that too. I feel like he's very similar to JJ, so IDK why he isn't in...WildcatStunner wrote:Tilford cant get any run?
Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
I just pray to God we get a decent snap for any end-of-half kicks.qwertyus wrote:Love the playcalling. Pound the ball. Rest the defense. Take the air out of the game. Go into the half with a score and a rested D.

Fire RR for mismanaging timeouts here

I'm not sure why we didn't attempt a single pass on that drive

Maybe he's hurt and left off the injury report like Tate was.WildcatStunner wrote:Tilford cant get any run?

Because RR is a clock-managing weasel?Alieberman wrote:I'm not sure why we didn't attempt a single pass on that drive

Yet another multi-touchdown halftime lead at Cal that Arizona football has no right to feel comfortable with.

and. . . 21-7. .. Cats at the half.
Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
We spread it out, which looks good. Then do designed QB run? The fuck?Alieberman wrote:I'm not sure why we didn't attempt a single pass on that drive

Try for a first and/or an easier FG! Why did we call that?

Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
If you are going to run out the clock for the first half, Why wouldn't you center the ball for the FG, let alone losing a few yards? The end of the half was a head scratcher.
Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
For as good as our other two units looked this half, our special teams are still lost. Every long snap and placekick remains an adventure out of this unit, and that means no confidence anywhere in them or from them--yet.Catintheheat wrote:If you are going to run out the clock for the first half, Why wouldn't you center the ball for the FG, let alone losing a few yards? What happened to Wilson?
Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
Pollack doesn't look very good, and Glatting is wildly inconsistent.catgrad97 wrote:For as good as our other two units looked this half, our special teams are still lost. It's not the snapping that has me worried with Wood in there.

Stepped on, or some kind of ankle injury on the Tate TD run.Postmaster wrote:What happened to Wilson?

I hope Tate's not hurt again. Only 4 passes in the first half.
There is such a thing as going to the well too often.

He has been protected. They've been using the RB's and WR sweeps all game long.
Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
The execution so far this season from the whole unit reminds me of some small Arizona high school.qwertyus wrote:Pollack doesn't look very good, and Glatting is wildly inconsistent.catgrad97 wrote:For as good as our other two units looked this half, our special teams are still lost. Granted, that drive didn't set up Pollack very well--another five yards from Tate and the kick would've counted--but at some point, scholarships translate to expectations of performance.
We'll need Pollack to win a game for us this season. I hope he can execute when that time comes.
Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
Yeahs and that was with timeouts called. It was like they wanted to protect Tate bu running him...Catintheheat wrote:If you are going to run out the clock for the first half, Why wouldn't you center the ball for the FG, let alone losing a few yards? The end of the half was a head scratcher.

I wouldn't go there, but Michael Lev of the Star reported Tate banged up at half.qwertyus wrote:Let's not even go there.3rdand25 wrote:I hope Tate's not hurt again. Only 4 passes in the first half.

That was too easy
Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
IDK why, on 3rd down, it's like the defense just decides to stop trying.84Cat wrote:That was too easy
Good rush from 4. Yet coverage breaks down in 3 seconds...

Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
Typical az defense.
Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
I’m not sure I have ever seen a team that is so consistently terrible on 3rd and long. It almost as 3rd and anything longer than 5 yards is gureenteed first down.

"The block that Taylor threw caromed off the shoulder of the Cal player and hit him in the helmet. That is why it was targeting."
Uh, no. That is some ass-covering supreme.
Nick Wilson in street clothes in the locker room. Minus some weapons to win this.

Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
Led Brown perfectly, and right when Arizona needed it. Love this super soph, Khalil Tate.

Easy for Cal again
Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
So what yardage IS good for our defense to get a third-down stop? Third and inches and third and long don't seem to work for us.
Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
Swiss cheese defense by us this half
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
i'll just go with fuck asu.

Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
If this secondary was any good, how the hell do we keep giving up long drives that end in touchdowns?
Not just that, we're getting shredded on 3rd down, basically exclusively!

Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
Cal was 11th in conference on third downs coming into this game. Our defense is just what the doctor ordered.
Re: Game 7 at California (2017)
#19 is spying on Tate and.. our punter could get a lot better
