Shaq's dad is also named Shareef? I'm referring to the older gentleman that has sat next to Shaq everytime he has come to McKale.UAEebs86 wrote:1stNGrant Frys wrote:Shaq and (I assume Shaq's dad) usually look very straight faced with no emotion, but Shaqs dad did laugh at that.Postmaster wrote:Who was the guy who did the first dunk then took off warm-up jacket and had a Khalil Tate jersey on?

With a Sidiki grain of salt.
Akot will be an important player. With size and quicks, he can guard anyone from Shannon Evans to Bennie Boatright. We've missed that recently against guys like Dillon Brooks, Myles Bridges and Trevon Bluitt. He also moves the ball well and is a willing and able passer.
Smith does not lack for confidence. Looks to score. Could be an important sub if freshmen get the yips.
Barcello looks to be back-up PG. Always need those. Always room for Barcello. Didn't get a good look at his shooting.
Parker doesn't need to be great, just steady. He will fluster young guards around the league.
Pinder went from our athletic front-court guy to just another front-court guy. He scraps and has five fouls to give. Will battle Ira Lee for minutes.
Think Trier's outing will look like many games. First half balance. Second-half takeover (if the game is close). With Alkins out, he'll have even more slashing opportunities. Should make a living at the line.
Of greatest interest to me in the first game is how Ristic and Ayton play together. If Ayton's face-up game really is that good, then Ristic should see fewer double teams. And when he misses, there is Ayton. Can also see Akot and Lee at the four in a really athletic lineup. This may be dictated when other teams go small. I think we're gonna see a lot of small-ball from other teams. If it hurts us, Ristic will sit.
What can I say about Ayton that already hasn't been said before? It's a Love Story. Loren Woods once got a triple double in points, rebounds and blocks. He could do that.
Randolph can say hello to the starting lineup, but if doesn't defend, Akot will swipe his spot. None of this is a given. Remember how few games Rondae started? Trier is a mediocre defender. Can't have two of those on the perimeter while Alkins is out.

Because is a damn good announcer and very fun to listen to.97cats wrote:why do I like him??ChooChooCat wrote:

He was among the few Bruin Hoops players I HATED THE MOST when he was in college. Trevor Wilson and Toby Bailer shared that distinction. I NEVER thought I would like him.
Dude is funny as hell and gives insane respect to our program. He still has a bit of his cockiness, but not douchebaggery... and he is after all the all-time scoring leader in the PAC.
Guy has no problem making fun of himself either... which makes him extremely likable.

Sean Miller ‘tests’ Wildcats to temper their expectations
Sean Miller believes he has the perfect method to temper those expectations — a two-question quiz.
“A test that always works is, you have 12 eligible players and there’s 200 minutes in a college basketball game, and if you score 80 points in a game, you’re going to be one of the top 10 or 15 scoring teams in the country,” the Arizona Wildcats head coach explained.
“You give them all that information and you ask them reasonably ... how many points per game do you think you’ll score, and how many minutes you feel like you’ll truly be able to earn on this year’s team?”
Players often overshoot both numbers. Sometimes by a lot.
“This year’s team, we have to find a way to play 265 minutes instead of 200, and we’re going to average 156 points,” Miller said, making the press room laugh. “That is the truth right there. That is not an exaggeration, I didn’t make that up.”
