Randolph's shooting and Ayton are the only bright spots tonight

Randolph is earning PT

This is a question that has been asked before in other seasons.UALoco wrote:Would this team be better w/o Trier?
Answer is perhaps. IF no Trier meant that every time down the court we dumped it into Ayton on the block with 25 second left on the shot clock, the answer might be yes.

Losing by 20 to the 7th place team means the Cats should not have even been there.SCCats wrote:And we deserved it.TatetheGreat wrote:Last place. Let that sink in.
Re: Game 6, vs Purdue @ Battle 4 Atlantis (2017-2018)
I don't know, we put on a bit of a run here with Trier on the bench. They pass the ball around more and don't stand around watching Trier dribble the ball away or putting up horrible shots. I'm being facetious but Trier annoys the shit out of me.OSUCat wrote:No. Only because the bench has been even worse.UALoco wrote:Would this team be better w/o Trier?
Re: Game 6, vs Purdue @ Battle 4 Atlantis (2017-2018)
We are down double digits with 8 minutes left..........we need to be pressing every made bucket.

I think it was better last year without him.UALoco wrote:Would this team be better w/o Trier?

I was getting ESPN3 all 3 nights. Tonight it just seems frozen solid with constant buffering. I have Frontier.com so that isn't helping. I'm not sure I want to watch it tonight anyhow. I do have most of dish's sports packages for when (not if) Miller rights the ship.Phylek wrote:Espn3 is free with your dish espn subscription. I'll get by tonight with you guys right here.UAEebs86 wrote:DiehardDave37 wrote:Same here.I may give up on ESPN3 and stay here. I am watching on the WatchESPN app on Roku no problem.

I hope we hire Gregg Marshall. Or Jay Wright.

That number 31 looks like the guy that delivers my pizza and he is killing us. We are going to lose this game. I am done here. Bring on Khalil Tate.

Bye bye Ayton.

Ayton comes home and has all this happen.
Probably not the best feeling.

O'Neal and Williams hoping FBI/NCAA investigations find something and they have an out.
Re: Game 6, vs Purdue @ Battle 4 Atlantis (2017-2018)
Been following AZ basketball for along time. We've never been shut out in a tournament, and this is supposed to be Millers best team? There's something wrong here.

Ayton should be proud of how he played. The rest of the team is going pro in something other than sports.

They already have an out. Only signed financial aid papers, not letters of commitment. School is committed, they aren't.

Well some of these other guys might be pros...after their junior or senior year.TatetheGreat wrote:Ayton should be proud of how he played. The rest of the team is going pro in something other than sports.
But to expect freshmen ranked in the 40s and 60s and 90s to get things done, as freshmen, is pretty

what a joke
from # 2 to out of the top 25 in 1 week! Bravo Miller
never seen a coach do LESS with more. Millers been squandering top 5 classes for 5 years running.

Really anyone that has enough clout to demand it of their school should go that route.

Really? Because a lot of people on this board expected all the frosh to contribute right away.SCCats wrote:Well some of these other guys might be pros...after their junior or senior year.TatetheGreat wrote:Ayton should be proud of how he played. We thought our seniors would contribute too.

At least the nightmare is finally over.

Dunno. I don't know BBall like most of youse do, but this seems like a systemic failure. I hope it's too early to be sure of our problem. I still hope.

Feel bad for these kids. Haven't seen any games, is there any on the court leadership? We've always had someone, kadeem, tj, Zeus, Nick..... this is the first year I can remember going into it without knowing that we had a guy that would be that. Tough to deal with these situations without that guy.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Seems Miller is just rolling out the ball now.

Trier putting up the old Bryce Alford special: 30 plus minutes played (I'm assuming on the minutes), zero personal fouls committedMerkin wrote:
Zero rebounds and only 1 assist to go with those zero personal fouls.
That's a foul mix.
Re: Game 6, vs Purdue @ Battle 4 Atlantis (2017-2018)
Is this rock bottom? We can't begin to climb out of this mess until we've hit bottom. Whole lotta soul searching going on right now for this team. Coaches and players. Time to figure out what they want.
There are two components to think about. The basketball side and the personality side. If this is a basketball only issue, it's fixable. If there's more to it with player personalities, leadership, trust, etc... then it could take awhile. Rawle could be the glue to help put the pieces back together.
I think Trier is trying too hard to carry this team. It's a fine line of trying to let the game come to you and knowing when to grab the reins. I can't imagine what's going through his head. And Ayton's too. And do the freshmen realize how crappy they performed or do they point the finger at others. Miller and Romar need to have a few long conversations.

Well, he has months and months to test various compositions. I bet he's the first one to admit he doesn't understand how to combine the pieces right now. But he's going to get the needed data. He knows who's to blame, and it's various.Merkin wrote:Not even a team out there. Just a bunch of individual players.U.P. Zona Fan wrote:Feel bad for these kids. completely missed this game, and just like the last one, maybe that's a good thing.
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:
