I'm sure that's just a coincidence.

The game definitely grinded to a haltRondaeShimmy wrote:Game went downhill when Trier came back in...

A&M also called a timeout and regrouped.....RondaeShimmy wrote:Game went downhill when Trier came back in...

That's my impression, as well. The slacking in practice excuse we heard might be BS84Cat wrote:Akot is just lost and unprepared for the college game

Shouldn't Akot be a senior in HS this year? Still see him on the draft charts, not sure why.84Cat wrote:Akot is just lost and unprepared for the college game

Randolph can always get that shot. Run the offense when nothing is there.

Dylan Smith is hitting his shots better the last couple of games. He keeps doing that and I want him on the floor.
Re: Game 9, vs Texas A&M @ Talking Stick (2017-2018)
Smith is the toughest matchup we have on the court right now. Getting into the d and making things happen.

Barcello is also playing much better. I really like his court vision.

Trier needs to be limited in PT until he starts playing as part of a team.

Reminds me of PJC as an underclassmen, great home games, but disappears away from McKale. Until today.Catintheheat wrote:Barcello is also playing much better. I really like his court vision.
Smith is really impressive today too.

If I was scouting for NBA talent I wouldn't choose Trier. He is playing himself into the second round at best. Still, it is a long season and he has time to turn it around.Longhorned wrote:BTW

Barcello has great vision. He knows where his teammates are and more importantly, he reads space and position of defenders. The more he plays, the better he'll get. Gonna be a really good four year player for us.

Those layups by A&M are too easy.

Re: Game 9, vs Texas A&M @ Talking Stick (2017-2018)
I think another problem (or possibly a related problem) on the offensive end is Trier is not as athletic as Trier thinks Trier is.Longhorned wrote:BTW

I don't think Miller allows his guards to, since the deep guard needs to stay back to stop any fast break.Catintheheat wrote:Barcello needs to learn to follow his shot.
How does that coordinate with the other guard? I don't know.

Re: Game 9, vs Texas A&M @ Talking Stick (2017-2018)
They took too long to take the last shot again. The Cats seemed to fall apart at the end of the half. But overall a good showing.

Way to end the fucking half guys

Senior PG ends the half with a no chance shot swatted and giving up a 3 to take us from up one with a chance for more to down two at the half.

As has oft been said, PJC is not really Arizona good.

Re: Game 9, vs Texas A&M @ Talking Stick (2017-2018)
Nice jackass end to the half.
Re: Game 9, vs Texas A&M @ Talking Stick (2017-2018)
With Trier having 0 points Im worried he will come out in the second half forcing shots and hurting us. Although I suppose he does that pretty regularly.
Re: Game 9, vs Texas A&M @ Talking Stick (2017-2018)
If Ayton is on the floor w/out Ristic, he needs to be in the low block and he needs to touch the ball. Do that, and then A&M must double and get out of position and we can move the ball and get shots. I'm tired of watching us try and beat people off the dribble because we can't. PJC can't go in among the trees and expect to score. So frustrating.
Re: Game 9, vs Texas A&M @ Talking Stick (2017-2018)
And he'll spend the second half the same place he spent the first: on the bench.billk78 wrote:With Trier having 0 points Im worried he will come out in the second half forcing shots and hurting us. Although I suppose he does that pretty regularly.
Re: Game 9, vs Texas A&M @ Talking Stick (2017-2018)
Hard to believe a team can stink this bad yet only be down by 2 points at the half to a #7 ranked team. Can somebody explain to me why Arizona players keep passing the ball to the wrong team?

Optimistic take:
Trier and PJC did nothing and we're down two.
Pessimistic take:
What are the chances PJC picks it up? What are the chances aTm shoots under 40% in the second half?

The half wasn't as bad as you are making it. The Cats did play good defense during some stretches.CatMG wrote:Hard to believe a team can stink this bad yet only be down by 2 points at the half to a #7 ranked team. Re: Game 9, vs Texas A&M @ Talking Stick (2017-2018)
Thought it was a very good half. I felt like we didnt play great but are hanging right in there. Need some better outside shooting or just tell trier to stop forcing. Still feel like Ristic is a huge liability. Barcello is a better distributor than PJC. Dylan Smith has the hot hand. Ayton hasnt really gotten going either. A&M seems to have excellent interior defense.

It's pretty clear that some of the smartest people have a low basketball IQ. Maybe Trier is one of those.pc in NM wrote:I have never liked that concept...Longhorned wrote:BTW

Just really unfruitful decisions on the court.
Rawle Alkins has a really high basketball IQ. That will help when he returns.
Re: Game 9, vs Texas A&M @ Talking Stick (2017-2018)
It's sad that Barcello might be a better player than PJC. But the fact that he's a freshmen and will make a lot of mistakes, and PJC is a senior will still limit Barcello's time.Spaceman Spiff wrote:Optimistic take:

Re: Game 9, vs Texas A&M @ Talking Stick (2017-2018)
So did coach finally hold Trier accountable for his defense or was he in foul trouble.
Re: Game 9, vs Texas A&M @ Talking Stick (2017-2018)
They went on a nice run with him off the court. Not sure why Miller kept him out. When he was in the game he was invisible except for forcing a few 3s and missing.SunnyAZ wrote:So did coach finally hold Trier accountable for his defense or was he in foul trouble.

Re: Game 9, vs Texas A&M @ Talking Stick (2017-2018)
I wish miller would change his offense so that the 4 goes to the 3-point line to set the useless screen instead of having the 5 set that screen.zonagrad wrote:If Ayton is on the floor w/out Ristic, he needs to be in the low block and he needs to touch the ball. IMO it inhibits the 5 from really working at getting good position on the low block.
Re: Game 9, vs Texas A&M @ Talking Stick (2017-2018)
I agree with him. But it's not something I could see Miller doing.Merkin wrote:billk78 wrote:It's sad that Barcello might be a better player than PJC.
