ristic scoring at least.
that's an awfully weak foul call on ayton

Re: Game 20, at Stanford (2017-2018)

Re: Game 20, at Stanford (2017-2018)
This is such a low BB IQ team that I believe the Sweet 16 is all we can expect. And even that won't be easy to obtain.
Re: Game 20, at Stanford (2017-2018)
Have we gotten any fouls called when we go inside?

I actually like PJC taking these open looks he's getting, they're just slightly off though.

I know pjc just missed another shot, and his detractors will jump on him for it. but all his shots have at least been good decisions to shoot the ball when he shot it.
just gotta get em to fall

Re: Game 20, at Stanford (2017-2018)
You have to take the shots the defense gives you, and PJC being 2-8 (1-5 3pt) will keep seeing open shots.
Re: Game 20, at Stanford (2017-2018)
Not sure why Pinder subs in first when Lee was giving us better minutes in the first half
Re: Game 20, at Stanford (2017-2018)
Stanford really getting some home cooking today. Refs have really changed this game and taken us out of what we do.

Furd is really not impressive at all. We should be stomping them.

Travis 8-12 for 20 points. Maybe the Cats ought to double him?
Re: Game 20, at Stanford (2017-2018)
How annoying watching this. Cats need to get serious about winning this.

Our bench has a whopping 0 points.

Re: Game 20, at Stanford (2017-2018)
Give Haase credit. He abandoned the man to man and went to a zone............and its a nice zone. He is doubling Ayton anytime he touches the ball and he is extending the zone out on Trier. He's basically making AZ beat him with Ristic/PJC/Alkins
Re: Game 20, at Stanford (2017-2018)
well pinder is the only one staying in for more than 2 minutes at a time, so not much you can expect from them.PieceOfMeat wrote:Our bench has a whopping 0 points.

No defense, bad passing, and settling for contested shots = choke city

If you have to rely on Ristic's scoring it's a bad signPieceOfMeat wrote:Ristic brought his scoring with him to Stanford

Exactly. He should never be our leading scorer like he is right now with 14 points.NYCat wrote:If you have to rely on Ristic's scoring it's a bad signPieceOfMeat wrote:Ristic brought his scoring with him to Stanford

Re: Game 20, at Stanford (2017-2018)
Live by Ristic, die by Ristic. They aren't concerned with falling into Ayton's fourth foul, they are going right at Ristic off screens.

I heard the Miller spent time with Boeheim this summer.
I thought he was trying to learn about zone.

If we ever showed as much emotion as Stanford I think it would snow in Tucson.

Ayton 7/5, not getting his double double today.
Re: Game 20, at Stanford (2017-2018)
Bad combination:
No idea how to attack a zone
Stanford with more athletic guards
Bad matchup for Ayton (T Reid)
Stanford wants it more

We're at sweet 16 team at best. Again.
Re: Game 20, at Stanford (2017-2018)
We need to pressure their guards. They are not good.

Re: Game 20, at Stanford (2017-2018)
Our shots were falling to open the game. We had good ball movement and were aggressive. Now it's a lot of standing around and panicking when the zone swallows up Ayton and Trier. What good is Romar if SEEM doesn't adjust to their defense?PieceOfMeat wrote:Well if nobody else will or can score today I'll take Ristic having his shot fall.NYCat wrote:If you have to rely on Ristic's scoring it's a bad signPieceOfMeat wrote:Ristic brought his scoring with him to Stanford

Whenever we show emotion we get technicals called on us. We need to fight thru the bs and beat the shit out of these guysjsbowl16 wrote:If we ever showed as much emotion as Stanford I think it would snow in Tucson.

bad foul call on PJC there.

Given Millers history of using the press I predict that we will start pressing with about 40 seconds left in the game.Dave wrote:We need to pressure their guards. They are not good.

Re: Game 20, at Stanford (2017-2018)
I agree it was a great start, but since that start, it's been pretty much crap. So at this point I'll take points from any player who can get them right now. Ristic or otherwise.TatetheGreat wrote:Our shots were falling to open the game. We had good ball movement and were aggressive. Well this game is over.
“The reality is that the hardest games to win are over teams on their home court. Teams that don’t play those games can spin it however they want, but what they’re saying is, ‘We don’t want to lose in our non conference season.’" - Sean Miller

Refs have killed Ayton. They can grab and push but Dre can't do anything
