Usually in these cases a lower level employee takes the 1st bullet and you see how high it goes. At MSU the 1st 2 to go were the president and AD.... this is gonna to go widespread around their entire athletics dept.... and if these adults let this happen, firing should be the least of their penalties

Yea. I'm talking the AD and coaches and police and everyone top to bottom being complicit in massive cover-ups. I don't know if I could support the school in any way again unless absolutely everything changed. Nuked from space.

If the Elliot Pitts story is retold in light of the MSU disclosures, I expect that the shock and judgment on Miller and the U of A would/Will be much more intense than it was at the time....scumdevils86 wrote:This of course begs the question... The Pitts situation was reported to all the proper entities, the athletic department did not attempt to hide or cover up anything, and Sean Miller never played him a single minute after the incident while not kicking him off the team until the investigation ended.pc in NM wrote:If the Elliot Pitts story is retold in light of the MSU disclosures, I expect that the shock and judgment on Miller and the U of A would/Will be much more intense than it was at the time....scumdevils86 wrote:This of course begs the question... I knew of some shady shit surrounding the football team when I was in school, but I have zero idea what the coaches and admin knew.

That's what I'm beginning to think. UAs FBI investigation is small potatoes compared to this, especially when you consider the NCAA knew about what was happening at MSU. Corrupt to the core. This is going to have repercussions throughout US amateur FB and BB athletics. Money is causing corruption.CalStateTempe wrote:just dissolve the NCAA already.azgreg wrote:

Yeah, Izzo hasn't sounded that defeated since he was virtually comatose after the 2001 Arizona Final Four decimation. He is done in East Lansing. I just pray this isn't Miller one day, because he's already starting to sound that way at press conferences about the FBI investigation.

Re: Izzo...
Exactly, but not really sure the Pitts situation is relevant to the MSU situation, being that Pitts and Mason were both adults, got drunk, and had consensual sex. Against the student code of conduct, but didn't break any AZ laws.Alieberman wrote:The Pitts situation was reported to all the proper entities, the athletic department did not attempt to hide or cover up anything, and Sean Miller never played him a single minute after the incident while not kicking him off the team until the investigation ended.pc in NM wrote:If the Elliot Pitts story is retold in light of the MSU disclosures, I expect that the shock and judgment on Miller and the U of A would/Will be much more intense than it was at the time....scumdevils86 wrote:This of course begs the question... Sucks for Trey Mason though, who left the team due to the situation with Pitts and his sister.

Yeah, I may misremember, but I thought the conclusion was that the perpetrator took advantage of her intoxication. And the police messed up by interviewing the victim while she was still intoxicated, and her faulty statements contradicted the clear evidence of Pitts' crime and made it too difficult to prosecute him.Alieberman wrote:Not consensual Merkin
But the MSU situation concerns covering up wrongdoings that we've never heard about until now. The Pitts situation was under investigation while protecting the privacy of the suspect pending the investigation, and Miller was removed from the situation and commenting about it during the investigation.

Dang it. I have always liked Izzo, he's a yooper. He looked like he wanted to die. He and his players get really involved in some pretty cool outreach activities for less fortunate kids in the area. Children's hospital stuff too.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

A former dean at Michigan State University has been charged amid an investigation into the school's handling of allegations against Larry Nassar, a former MSU doctor convicted of sexually abusing dozens of female patients.
William Strampel, 70, has been charged with allegedly using his office to harass and sexually assault female students as well as having pornographic material on his work computer, including a video of Nassar performing "treatment" on a young female patient.

Still boggles the mind that the uproar is about paying players, but sexual abuse in programs or administrations is accepted.

Cripes. Nassar videoed them then shared them with administrators? Unreal.
I really have no words. I'd give the whole school the NCAA death penalty with releases without penalty for all athletes while putting everyone involved in the state pen.
I guess I do have words, but this is quite upsetting.

IMO, it's tragic that the NCAA does not have a catchall rule for stuff like this and PSU. When intercollegiate athletics are a platform for child and/or sexual abuse, it's sick, perverse logic that the NCAA isn't concerned with that.Olsondogg wrote:I'm not even talking about the NBA. With Michigan State facing questions in its complicity to Larry Nassar's systemic molestation of underage girls during his time at the university, its PR took another hit on Wednesday. The Lansing State Journal uncovered that PR firm Weber Shandwick billed Michigan State over $500,000 for its services in January. The firm's services included monitoring the accounts of victims and their families, journalists, politicians and celebrities.
