Re: Official Bracketology Thread
Michigan State getting destroyed by 22 right now against Northwestern - halftime
Re: Official Bracketology Thread
I decided to turn that game on in the middle of the 2nd half. NW scores 11 2nd half points (which included a three with under 10 seconds left) to lose. Think about that, they score 11 2nd half points and lose by 5 (and that is with four FTs at the end for MSU after NW started fouling). How is that even possible?.UAEebs86 wrote:Michigan State getting destroyed by 22 right now against Northwestern - halftime

Xavier needs to be added to that list. Biggest paper tiger in the country. Perhaps Auburn is a contender as well.

This year is the year of "who ever gets hot and wants a title vacated for crap everyone relevant is pulling." So it could be us!!!! Call me jaded.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

So true. It used to, but it doesn’t even anger me anymore. We lose in Seattle and it’s a scarlet letter. ESPN TV partners lose and it’s a good loss. Texas Tech is such a fraud as well. There are a lot of them this year.Longhorned wrote:Texas Tech lost but looked good losing.

Updated after Saturday games.
I've decided to put the top 20 on this list.
So this list includes teams 1-20 and their W/L after 2/11 when the selection committee announced their top 16. They have been rearranged slightly based on reasonable assumptions based on this week's results.
Virginia (1-0)
Villinova (1-1)
Xavier (1-1)
Kansas (2-0)
Purdue (0-1) plays Sunday
Auburn (1-1)
Duke (1-0) plays Sunday
Michigan St. (2-0)
North Carolina (2-0)
Cincinnati (0-1) plays Sunday
Clemson (0-1) plays Sunday
Texas Tech (1-1)
Tennessee (1-1)
Arizona (1-0)
Gonzaga (2-0)
Oklahoma (0-2)
Ohio State (0-1) plays Sunday
Rhode Island (1-1)
Wichita St. (1-0) plays Sunday
West Virginia (1-1)

Cincinnati does not deserve a two seed. They’ve feasted on cream puffs. Perhaps they would if they sweep Wichita State. They won’t though.

It's better to be a 3-seed than a 4-seed, but not if they're going to make Kansas a 1-seed. In that case, the 4-seed would be the easier path.

Re: Official Bracketology Thread
I've always figured if you want a Final Four, you'll probably have to beat a 1-4 seed, if not two. The best you can hope for is a decent matchup, but you'll probably draw a good opponent or two.Longhorned wrote:It's better to be a 3-seed than a 4-seed, but not if they're going to make Kansas a 1-seed. Kansas isn't scary this year, but this year most top teams are flawed. Kenpom's #1 team is in the 40's in AdjO. Most of your top teams are pretty unbalanced and lag in either O or D. If I had a real request, it would be to avoid MSU, Purdue and Zaga as the most balanced teams. An unbalanced team, we can either beat them in a track meet or hope their lack of O keeps us there if we stick 3's and ride Ayton.

Re: Official Bracketology Thread
I really think this quadrant change is going to make for some wonky brackets. Cincinnati, Xavier, Auburn etc. are going to be grossly over seeded as a result of the committee being forced to view wins like @Butler, @Creoghton, @ Central Florida, @Murray State and so on as elites wins due to the bump given to road wins.

Re: Official Bracketology Thread
Utah has a very good chance at getting in with the final three at home. That would get them to 12-6 in league which should lock up a tourney birth. USC has to at least win 2 of three or win 1 and make the PAC 12 finals. Their resume is terrible. Wins versus MTSU and Utah both at home. If they go 1-2 and Washington goes 3-1 then UW would clearly have the better profile. I think four teams is the most likely result. AZ, ASU, UCLA and Utah. If Oregon wins out they might also sneak in with potentially 6 top 50 wins and recent tournament pedigree.Beachcat97 wrote:Pac is getting 5 in: AZ, ASU, USC, UCLA, and UW (or Utah).
Best case scenario for PAC:
Oregon 4-0
AZ 3-1
ASU 3-1
UTAH 3-0
UCLA 1-2
USC 2-1
Washington 3-1
In that scenario the conference might get seven teams though it would be six 9-12 seeds plus Arizona.
